Samsung used to have their own cloud for backups, including photos saved locally to the device. It used to be

 

Settings/Accounts/Samsung Cloud/Gallery

 

You had to toggle gallery off and then on again and it would fetch your photos from their cloud.

 

That said, I vaguely remember getting an email from them stating that the whole Samsung cloud thing was changing, I got rid of my Note 8 before that so didn’t take much notice of the email.
