Real Madrid - The European Cup final

Recommended Posts

I feel sorry for all the reds in Kiev, especially the kids who’ve never seen us win the European Cup. Really wanted them to experience what I did thirteen years ago. Sadly, losing finals seems to have become a bit of a habit. Gutting, like, as we did so well to get there.

You have to take it in context to an extent, it was an incredible feat to even been there tonight and we lost to the side that's been there and done it again and again, an undoubtedly great team, loathe as I am to say it.

But we also have to accept what we knew following the last two finals we lost, the squad isn't very good and there's flaws all over the place, the midfield is bog average at best and shits the bed when the going gets tough.

Karius and Lovren are critical weaknesses, Henderson, Milner and Leillana can't cut it at this level but would make decent squad players.

But there's the bones of a really top drawer side with this front three, full backs and big Virg, we never had any of that at the start of the season.

Anyone blaming Klopp for not making subs is a bit stupid. We had 2 decent players in Lallana and Can but both haven't played for 3 months. Then just a load of players who wouldn't make most mid table or relegation fighting teams.

The life force went out of us one Salah went off. Up to then we were holding our own.

Think Karius got the wrong end of the stick when people said "copy Grobellaar". Meaning the spaghetti legs in the 1984 final and not his match fixing days.

I know Ramos is a cunt but I don't think he injured Salah on purpose.

Yeah, he possibly did but it's nowhere near as obvious as people have been making out. I mean, I've never seen a defender attempt to dislocate a player's shoulder on the sly before. That said, he's a proper bellend.

On the whole though, it's a shame and I imagine it's going to be more difficult to take in the morning but we're on an upward trajectory and we'll be a better side with a better squad next season.

Really hope Salah is fit for the World Cup is my main lingering feeling from tonight.

First things first i love all of y’all. im busy getting hammered to forget this trash result but thats still true.

Secondly, we’ll be back. Regarding Karius, he deserves stick for their 3rd but the second was a worldie and the first is disallowed for either offsides or harassing the keeper in every other fucking game. He made important saves to keep us in the game and had we won his performance would be viewed differently. The ref was scared to pull a card for most of the match and we lacked going forward after that cunt Ramos did Salah. it is what it is, but at the end of the day im proud of our club. Liverpool are on the ascendency.

Lovren “critical witness”. Lol comment. Our best player tonight. Would’ve been 4-0 without him.

Lallana was anonymous. Nivea loving shit house.

Happy with the rest of the team. They tried their best.

Karius obviously a liability. But tonight he needs support.

He didn't look fit. Wrong decision to bring him on imo.

Great achievement to get to the final, disappointing how it's gone. Proud to be a Liverpool fan. Karius made mistakes but not on purpose and he must be feeling heartbroken so needs to be supported rather than berated YNWA.

Hope any reds in Kiev stay safe and get home without issue.

Onwards to next year!

This. Good post. Too gutted to type more than that.

Henderson, fuck me. Even my 8 year old was able to comment on how often he passed the ball backwards tonight. Sick of watching him take the ball, shit his pants and take the easy way out. Get rid. 3 water carriers in midfield obviously didn't cut the mustard.

Have to agree with you. Lovren was not a weakness and it was his header that made Manes goal. This talk if he had been closer to Bale the ref would have given foot up is nonesense. And where was Virgil in all of this. The defence played well again tonight but once again peoples agendas against certain players come out. Karius two gaffes hurt us massively. Mane was unlucky at 2-1 with a shot that came back off the post.

On the night too many players did not have a good game and Mos injury made a massive difference to us and Madrids game plan. I was as pissed off at Karius gaffes as anyone but I still feel for the lad. That said Jurgen said show me I do not need to buy a new keeper. Well sorry Jurgen we do need to buy. Teams do not win trophies with keepers who make gaffes.

But whatever way you look at it Bobby did not turn up tonight. Gini was too slow again. Lallana did well to last the game but created nothing. Milner is dependable but did not create anything. I thought Jurgen should have had Ings on the bench tonight.

As I said I am heartbroken. I really thought we were going to do these tonight. Jurgen has us punching above our weight. I cannot believe he is so unlucky in finals. It is like the footballing gods do not smile on him when it comes to the crunch.

How anybody still thinks he's anything other than a complete waste of space is beyond me.
