Champions league final isn't on til 26th of may, 2 weeks after our final league game.

Given the levels of quimery, by some, today on the match thread, you'd swear we just pissed away any chance of qualifying.

So, with the final being so late, we can still put plenty of effort into beating stoke and Brighton at home, with proper teams, even though we really only need 4 points from those games, given that we've an 18 goal advantage over Chelsea, and 8 points as things stand.

So relax lads, we'll be grand.

Stoke game an early kick off sandwiched inbetween the two Roma legs is the tricky one - Yes they are shite but it is gonna be a tricky balancing act if we end up resting players because of the Roma games.

We should be ok though for top 4 - the 2 pts thrown away today are irritating and change dynamic of Stoke game a little but shouldn't be damaging.

I'm only slightly concerned because Chelsea look like they're going to win all their remaining games - and yes, that includes us since we'll be prioritising the Champions League and we have a shit record at the Bridge. It could have been academic had we beaten WBA today, as it is we're going to be a bit uncomfortable going into the last few weeks. Would have been nice to put it to bed today to focus on the CL but who would we be without some tension and drama.

We've not got a bad record at the bridge in last few years. Won there last 2 years,2.1 and 3.1! Drew the one before that too 1 all. We get through against Roma and we'll bounce into that game.

They've Swansea next away and Newcastle away, last game, and us and Huddersfield home in between. We avoid defeat to them and we're golden.

If we were told at beginning that we'd be 8 points and 18 goals better off than 5th place team, with 3 games to go,we'd have all taken that.

Ain't worried yet. A defeat against Stoke would change that for sure, We can't afford to keep putting out sides like today.

Not that much wrong with the starting XI; certainly good enough to beat West Brom (which we would have done, but for Gomez's late brainfart) and easily good enough to dispose of cack like Stoke at Anfield.

We can afford to keep putting out a side like today's.

Not sure why people are tripping their shit about Chelsea winning all their games. One of them is against us. And if they win tomorrow as I expect Conte will surely eye personal glory of the FA Cup to piss the Chelsea hierarchy off when he leaves at the end of the season him with a trophy and the club not in the CL. Tough dilema for Klopp. Does he rest certain players and risk results and the players sharpness or play them in the league and risk fatigue and injury. After today I think he will go shit or bust and play his strongest team in the league.

We should play our strongest team. We can't live in fear of injury unless it's nothing games. Qualification is incredibly important for the club to build upon.

We should play our strongest team? We should risk an injury to Firmino or Salah or van Dijk in a game against Stoke to take our odds of qualifying for CL next season from 97% up to 99%?

Some of you have some weird priorities. We're in the semifinals of the Champion's League! This could be our best chance to win Big Ears for the next 5 years! We're also miles ahead of Chelsea in the league.

I'm not saying we should rest the whole XI and throw away any chance of beating Stoke, but if we have a player who needs a rest in order to be 100% against Roma then that player should absolutely be rested. Our odds of beating Stoke right now are probably around 70% - play Ings and give Bobby a rest and that probably goes down to 65%. It's just not enough of a difference to be worth risking advancing in the CL for.

Shit record at Stamford Bridge? We've only lost once in the league there against them this decade. Four wins, two draws, one defeat. If people insist on being fatalistic after yesterday, at least be factually accurate.

I'll even spot you that Paul Lambert's never lost at Anfield as either a player or a manager.

Unless someone is carrying a knock or shattered next weekend I'd start the majority of the first team. Last thing we would need is a shitty game and getting fucked over by a team needing to win and then going to Chelsea needing something.

Just get it wrapped up

From yesterday, only Moreno, Ings and (on TAA's recent form) Gomez wouldn’t count among our strongest team. None of them are inexperienced kids any more. We can afford to use the squad we've got.
