It's regularly colder than this in several parts of Siberia, mate. I live down towards Mongolia but we're actually the second-coldest region in Russia despite being further south than others, no large bodies of water nearby to modulate temperature. Gets up to +40 in the summer as well.

 

That's from January. LIES!

 

I actually believe you though, my wife's family are from Kazakhstan and have known temperatures that cold (hotter in summer, possibly not quite as cold as regularly as -53c) and would be on a similar latitude.

Strange weather this morning. It's minus 3 where I am when I got up at half 6 but barely any frost on the ground and the car windscreen had very little ice on it.

Stuck in Schiphol Airport Amsterdam. 1020am flight out to Liverpool delayed until 1255pm apparently John Lennon airport shut? Nice and sunny in the Dam tho and what pisses me off more is that all other flights to UK have left on time incl. Manchester !!!!!
