Allison is obviously a top goalie even i wasn't massively impressed with him against us - i'm basing that as much on what i've heard from people i respect as i have only seen him about 6 times. However, Oblak just feels like a bona fida world top 3 goalie. Goalkeepers can win or lose you the big trophies as we know to our cost. With oblak, i think with a bit of luck we could win the league.

 

If it came down to allison for 55-60 or oblak for 85-90, then it is oblak all day every day.

Only need to look at the Mancs to see what a difference a world class keeper can make.

yep. VVD was an incredible fee for a CB but he’s brilliant and worth it. I’d love if we went and got Oblak.

The 88m is Oblak's release clause though. If I'm not mistaken, release clauses have to be paid upfront to be activated. 88m in one straight upfront payment? Never ever gonna happen.

At least, there is a slight chance with Alisson as his fee can be paid in installments.

IF Oblak is available at the £80m buy out then get it done. He’s proven he’s good enough for a few years now and is CL experienced. I can’t be doing with any mentally week keepers anymore. Let’s get a solid keeper in who doesn’t draw attention to himself every game. Look at Cech when he went to Chelsea. He was criticised for being overpriced at £10 million then but you only ever seen him when he made a save. Winning teams don’t have error prone keepers.

 

We can’t be taking a £50m + gamble on Allison at the stage we’re at now. We’ve Fannied around for years with expensive gambles and we’ve lost out too many times.

 

Let’s get the real deals in now and have a squad that continues to go far in the CL every season. The money we’ve made this season is only gonna increase of we keep it going and these players become cheap in a few years.

Oblak's not realistic. Even if we pay the clause, which we wouldn't, he's got no real reason to leave Atletico for Liverpool. We're an attractive club now and we can get players to move from clubs like Leipzig and Lyon but we're not gonna get a guy who's winning trophies at a top club in Spain.

 

Alisson is more realistic and he's basically the second best keeper on the market. And if you can't get him for something reasonable, there are other good ones out there as well, but this Oblak talk is a waste of time.

I’d wait til Allison announce his destination and purchase their current starting goalkeeper e.g., Navas or Courtois.

I think Alisson would be a better keeper for us than Oblak. Atletico's system does Oblak a lot of favours. The defence is always compact. He's hardly ever one on one against an attacker. Alisson on the other hand doesn't have that luxury. Their defence is more like ours.

Oblak was ridiculously good against Arsenal.

 

Looked commanding in everything he did.

 

No way we’re getting him, I just don’t reckon the stats will back up paying £80m for a keeper versus say a Butland level.

 

Look at how much better we were once karius cake in and started to save things for that brief spell. I reckon they’ll look at that and justify an incremental improvement to put money into the forwards even if you can massively justify oblak boxing us for 7-10 years
