East coast of Italy

Thinking of going to the adriatic coast for a week in April but don't have a clue about the nicest towns etc - anyone have any recommendations ? Needs to be close to the sea as possible , a nice sleepy-ish fishing village would be nice

Trani and Barletta north of Bari are ok and have a beach at Margherita di Savoia. South of Bari is Polignano and Monopoli.

 

However the best beaches in Puglia are in the South around Porto Cesareo. The seafood is fantastic too. And Lecce isn't too far away.

Stayed at a town between Venice and Trieste up in the north-east called Grado once with the family.

 

Was brilliant for a family getaway, pretty slow though and if you're after the nightlife it wouldn't be your scene. For us it was perfect, our kids still talk about it. Right on the beach, very sleepy little town, few decent restaurants.

Sounds perfect , but i was thinking probably slightly further south maybe as far down as the pescara area .

Been to Venice but not gone further down the East coast. I do however really want to go to Lecce in Puglia. Right down the bottom.

Sirolo is nice, and would probably be pretty quiet in April.

I've been the other side of the Adriatic on the Western Croatian coast and it's lovely, relaxed and a lot cheaper. Used to be part of Italy a while back I think.
