It is perfectly obvious that they were waiting for the results of the Rio cultural aspects fact finding mission  to be submitted. The trip couldn't be scheduled before this week, for obvious reasons, and should be over by Thursday morning local time, so we can expect some news next week.

Not only that, but it wont help BT marketing of the Champions League if lfc aren't in it. There is a lot riding on Firminho's racist abuse of Holgate. The FA are dragging their feet because they want to ensure lfc are very close and near the top 4. If it was racist abuse in Russia, the FA would be all over it like a rash demanding action from UEFA, as would the media. IF there's no camera angle proving anything one way or another come out say evidence is inconclusive so case has to be dropped.

IF Holgate wanted the issue to go away he'd have come out and said so.
