Fell asleep waiting for it to start!

Just watched a rerun and gutted I missed it live. Great fight. Was very close, but lomachenko was defo in charge. Linares was throwing a lot of flurries which weren't landing.

Munguia absolutely bossed Ali. Wasn't even competitive. Worth a watch of that one too.

Lomachenko/Garcia would be an unbelievable fight. Lomachenko is unreal to be fair to him but I think Garcia seems naturally a lot bigger, I know they’re similar heights but I think Garcia could go up another weight and be comfortable but Loma could struggle with size come fight night if he went up.

That ones got a potential trilogy if they fight because I personally can’t pick a definitive winner and I don’t think there would be in the first time they fight.

I had the fight level going into the 10th, couple of really close rounds, what a brilliant fight and that body shot was unreal.  I had Loma backed to win on points, i was delighted on how he started the 10th before he broke Linares liver into 2 pieces.

The Mikey Garcia fight is the one next, what a fight that could be as you can see Loma looked human at Lightweight, though it's still super-human, what a magnificent pressure, skillful, fast boxer.  One of the best i've ever seen.

Went to the loma / linares fight last night and it was brilliant. The movement from loma is unreal. Can’t see him from the stands so must be so frustrating being in front of him. I love watching Linares and thought with the knockdown they were neck and neck until that body shot. Thought the ref was a bit hasty in stopping it though.

1st time I’ve ever been to MSG and it’s an incredible venue. Seats were superb, Atmosphere was electric and no queueing in a melee trying to get a pint (although they called last orders at the start of the big fight) was a bonus.

Highly recommended

Hasty? He was still doubled over in pain by about the count of 14

Think Remmie's right, mate.

Linares got up at 8, the ref asked him if he was okay, and he bent over. He couldn't go on, that beautiful body shot took it clean out of him.

Oh he is right,no dispute, but from where we were sitting, it looked like Linares had nodded to fight on after he’d bent over and then the ref stopped it. Linares said in the interview afterwards he thought it was stopped too soon. At the fight you’re not getting any commentary and they didn’t show the count again, only the finishing punch and there was quite a few boos around us with the ending. Although I don’t remember Linares putting up too much of a protest at the time it was stopped.

I get you.

Speaking of being there, I knew Lomachenko was popular but I didn't know he was MSG popular.

It sounded like a Cotto fight. Was there a big Ukrainian contingent there or just everybody solidly behind Loma?

We're quite lucky, Arum and Hearn are very close on a deal to bring Lomachenko here to fight Campbell in 2019.

There was loads of Loma fans draped in the flags and singing in what I can guess was Ukrainian. Place was going mental every time he came on the screen before the fight. Linares crowd came alive when it started and it was like being in a match with it going to and fro. Merchandise stands for Loma everywhere and I told the kids I’d get them some gear on the way out. Hardly anything left at the end so that didn’t go down too well.

Talk out here today is that hes fighting Beltran in LA in August and my daughters asking for me to look for cheap flights as it’s her birthday then and seeing as I took my lad to this for his present (which her and my Mrs worked my head on making me add them on the booking so they could come to this one as well) I’m tempted to do it as we all got carried away with that atmosphere last night and we’re getting a boss little holiday away instead of blowing money on shite presents they’ll never use and getting to see a competitive fight again.

My lads where there for the Rigonduex bout in MSG He does have a good following there it's like his home venue for him now.

Great fight a rematch would be a cracker again, had a few bob on him 7-9 just missed out,the body shot was special he didn't see it coming.

The body shot was unreal. I needed the replay to see it.

I think the fight was beat out of him and he didn't mind it being stopped at the time.

Had him by 4 Byrnie, great bout after some of the shite whats been in of late mate.

I had the same score.

Linares was in the fight and more competitive than Loma's last 4 opponents combined, but I thought Loma was winning the rounds quite decisively.

It was an interesting one, because Lederman and Weisfeld both know how to score a fight and they had it 85-85, 86-84, officially.

After the Linares fight, who are you backing now in Mikey Garcia v Lomachenko?

Needs to be made.

It was competitive, last night, but in his first fight at the weight Lomachenko stopped the number one lightweight in the world.

The knockdown was real, but it wasn't a result of Linares's power, or size, or weight. Loma just got caught walking in, and shit happens when you're in with another world class fighter.

I think 135 is probably as high as the matrix can go, but I would still make him a very big favourite against Garcia. It would probably be the best fight that can realistically be made in the sport, today.

I think the plan is to have Loma fight Ray Beltran August 25 in L.A to unify, which is not a great fight, but nobody is perfect.

During the fight I thought I was hearing Linares chants as you mention, but I was confused because as a Venezuelan who is based in London and Tokyo, I didn't think he had match going fans. He deserves that, though. As classy, skilled and brave as a champion should be, everybody in boxing likes Linares.
