Jurgen Klopp given all clear by medics as Liverpool stars train without their boss

The German took himself to hospital on advice of doctors earlier on Wednesday after complaining of feeling unwell

Jurgen Klopp has been released from hospital after a health scare.

The Liverpool manager was cleared of any serious illness.

On the advice of club doctors he had taken himself to a city centre hospital for tests.

The German had complained of feeling unwell following a charity trip to South Africa, and missed yesterday’s training session.

He was allowed home after scans confirmed there were no serious implications to the problem although he is likely to have follow-up appointments.

The Anfield club were quick to reassure fans the manager’s visit to the NHS hospital in Liverpool, was a precautionary measure.

“Jurgen Klopp has attended a hospital appointment today as a precautionary measure, after feeling ill. He is being assessed by doctors and will be absent from training on Wednesday as a result,” a statement read.

“There are currently no plans for Jurgen to remain in hospital beyond his appointment and he will therefore return home this evening; however, he may require further check-ups in the coming days.”

Club officials later confirmed the matter was not serious - with all tests offering a positive diagnosis - and most likely a minor ailment caused by the travel to South Africa, with the change in climate often causing coughs and infections.

The Reds boss is due to talk publicly on Friday ahead of the Anfield showdown with Southampton the following day, though he will wait to see how he feels in the morning before deciding whether to take training today.

Klopp was in Cape Town for an event at local club Hout Bay United Community, a charitable trust set up for people based around the football club and aimed at uniting all areas of society.

After being given the all clear from serious worries, the manager will undergo further tests to rule out any other potential lesser problems in the coming weeks.

It is not the first health scare Klopp has suffered since arriving at Anfield, with the 50 year old suffering appendicitis in February 2016, which forced him to miss a home game against Sunderland.

Klopp was due to attend a world premiere at the FACT picturehouse in Liverpool of a Kenny Dalglish biopic, but doctors decided it was best he rest and miss the event.

Glad our medical staff didn't check him out or we wouldn't have seen him again till next season

I would think they would have appreciated having someone different to work on rather than the same old usual guests.
