Anyone use a juicer?

That's what I'm thinking.

Fiber is a big thing for me, so eliminating seems counter-productive!  You also can't make ahead, you have to consume pretty much immediately which is a PITA.  The science of increased nutrient uptake is shaky as well.  As PestiRed says something good in -> something crap out.  What's the point, we have industrial food production to do that.

Once in a while, I'll hurl some stuff in the blender and make a juicy slush for a change, but there's no point making it a routine, and you seem pretty good at being on top of what you eat, so what benefit do you think there might be?

I bought one about five years ago. Used it a few times, decided it was more hassle than it was worth and shoved it in the cupboard. Ended up giving it to a charity shop.

Pros: fresh fruit juice.

Cons: needed loads fruit. Had to drink the juice pretty much straight away, as refrigerated apple juice went brown. Pain in the arse to clean.

I eat no fruit at the minute. Not much veg either need to up my intake.

Pretty much everything is meat and rice based.

Try 5 prunes in the morning and five in the evening. Will help with the fibre and a bunch of other fruit nutrients

You could also try chucking a handful of peas in with the rice

Coleslaw was my gateway to veg's.  Hurl random spinach/leaves of stuff/cabbages/peppers/carrots/squashes/whatever's left over from the bird food in the food processor.  Slice it all up.  Lather in olive oil, sprinkle on lemon/cayenne/black pepper/random herb.

Wave goodbye to chewing for 1/2 an hour to eat a couple of leaves.

Get yourself a magic bullet instead, cheaper (got mine for under £30 on special), smaller and more versatile.  I got one early this year and have been surprised how often I use it.  Would've hated dragging a full size blender out the cupboard or cleaning a single-purpose machine all the time.

In the wider scheme of things there are obviously better versions, it's a cheap and mass-produced option.  But if you're looking to try a few things to see what works, no point in dropping £80+ on it.

I've got a smoothie maker I think I'll give that a whirl. I've only every used it to make boozy cocktails before..

The supermarkets do frozen packets of fruit prepped for smoothies. Makes it very easy to keep up with it, without waste. Also, lots of variety and healthy stuff. Put enough of the strawberry or banana or mango in there and you can’t taste whatever else you put in. That means spinach and other inedible rabbit food is back on the menu.

Thinking of buying one.

Slight concern I have it that it seems expensive. In that you have to put in an awful lot of stuff to get a decent sized glass out.

Anyone use one?

Used to, but replaced it with a good blender which keeps the roughage in as well. A much better option.

Once or twice if pressed for time is fine but if you are regularly making smoothies, wouldn't buying those packs become too expensive? You might as well buy those ready-made bottled smoothies instead.

I've never really measured it out, but they seem quite cheap to me. They're 3 for a fiver in Tesco. Go a fairly long way too. Certainly more than a pre-made smoothie. Maybe not more than fresh fruit though.

Some of them look pretty good. avocado, spinach and stuff with the fruit. I'll give them a go.

Not a big fan of eating fruit smoothies.

I could not eat 3 apples 4 bananas grapes and berries in one go but I could drink it. Too much sugar. Imo. Mix 1/2 of that with spinach and stuff great.

Yeah, a good way to get stuff you (or I, more accurately) wouldn't eat otherwise.
