Blind faith?

Mil-ing Around

The ocean sized gaps in our team are starting to appear again. I know it's only 2 games in but both performances were very worrying for me. We have, again, become very easy to play through. This is very reminiscent of Rodgers final season (and generally how we became easy to play against since Rafa left)

We are so focused on getting between the oppositions lines that we forget there are 11 athletes trying to break our lines too. Which they have been, with total ease, in these last two games.

I love Klopp, i think he's the best thing that happened to us since Rafa but fuck me, how the fuck can we start a new season and give 2 games to Moreno? How can we start a new season with an axis of Can, Henderson and Wijnaldum? How the fuck is Mignolet still in goal? How can he not see that Lovren, at best (and im being fucking kind here) is a 3rd or 4th choice centre back? How have we still not found a better way to defend set pieces?

Klopp has so much faith in his own ability to train/develop players and make them better. Fair play to him on that, it's different and refreshing. In a game surrounded by greedy wankers and ego's with little loyalty and morals it's nice that our manager stands up against a lot of it. But is his faith blind? Is our faith in him blind?

After 2 years here i would have thought that, even Klopp, would realise that some of these guys just aren't good enough. These guys keep letting him down and most of them will continue to do so. Football, at the highest level, is as much about ability and talent as it is about training well. No matter how much you train a guy, not everyone can be brilliant or great.

You can't can't turn Moreno into a positionally sound full back who can use both feet. You can't make Henderson into a midfielder who is brave on the ball, can pass forwards and has good vision. You can't make Can faster and a better passer. You can't make Wijnaldum suddenly appear on the pitch, even though his name appears to be in the starting 11. Salah has not started great either, he is weak on and off the ball. He can't tackle or press and he has no right foot, he's not even that fast either but it's early days so he can be given time. The rest have had plenty of fucking time.

Klopp is good tactically, he made an adjustment 2nd half in both games and it nullified the attacks of the opposition but we make basic errors, unforgivable, even at amatuer level let alone the top end. We slice clearances, miss headers, don't make 5 yard passes, goal keeping howlers. The list goes on with this bunch.

I love the way we play attacking football, i want to be entertained and put teams on the back foot. We are still feared going forwards and that's the way i want us to be. It's how the cunts Fergusons teams were. But to play that way you need quality players. Defenders good in 1v1, quality GK, Midfielders composed on the ball who can pass forwards and be good in tight spaces (not shit themselves and pass backwards at the first sign of being closed down)

There are better footballers than these guys out there and we should have bought some by now. I just hope we sign 2 good quality players before the window shuts. A good quality passer in centre mid and a centre back. I hope he fuck's off Moreno sharpish, puts Milner back there and he gives Ward a chance in goal. It will help, massively. Stem the flow before it gets too bad Jurgen.

Mignolet has actually been alright for a while now. Not like excellent or Champions League quality or anything but no longer a glaring weakness that needs addressing ASAP.

I fucking hate how easy it is for teams to beat our press at the moment because forcing the opponents to play shit passes is like 90% of how we defend. If we're not doing it, we're fucked.

I'm sure if he could find buyers for some of them he would sell. Its the holding out for more money rather than cutting our losses which is slowing things down.

It's a business, it's run like a business and quite frankly it's none of my business.

We're two games into the season so yes.

It's not about 2 games into a season.

He's not addressed the goalkeeper, defence or midfield in 2 years. 4th transfer window on his watch is about to close and still glaring holes in our squad.

We have no depth in terms of quality. He's built a team like a man building a house of cards. One or 2 cards missing it all falls fucking down. Most of our players are very injury prone and get injured for months at a time.

Look at the left back situation for example.

Milner was first choice left back all of last season. Moreno quite rightly couldn't get a look in and was supposed to being fucked off this summer.

We buy Robertson who's disappeared off the face of the earth seemingly.

Moreno is now first choice left back. Milner is now a sub, but is now being used in midfield.

How can you not be concerned about any of this?

It's wrong and embarrassing to see the knives start to sharpen for Klopp. We finished top four last season. Obviously it wasn't what we were used to in years gone by, but relative to what we had started to become, it marked a big improvement on the multiple seasons we finished 6th-8th.

OK it 'only' got us a CL qualification game, but even with the Coutinho cloud hanging over us, as well as frustration in the transfer market at not being able to close deals for the manager's preferred players, we still went and beat Hoffenheim on their own patch. No other team has managed to do that in well over a year. Oh, and we also watched a local lad score a smashing goal, as well as take plenty of responsibility in the match as an eighteen year old.

It's not perfect at Liverpool, but can we please stop overreacting? At present the balance of the team isn't quite right. We all know it, but let the manager do his work! He went in for VVD and Keita this summer. That gives us a clue about what he is trying to do. He has definitely got the right idea. I'd like to see alternates if those deals can't be completed, and perhaps we will see some action before the window shuts.

As for the balance, let's remind ourselves that lots of middle ranking managers have the ability to set up a solid enough side but they don't go anywhere because they have no attacking sparkle. The hardest part of the game is scoring goals. Klopp knows how to get the team going really well in that regard. The balance isn't quite right at present, but too many are moaning and overreacting. I'm backing the manager. I'm glad he's ours.

Personally, i'm not overreacting. I love Klopp, he's a brilliant manager and my knives aren't out for him at all. If he goes we are fucked.

But, nobody can deny some of the issues right now, not even a huge Klopp fan like me.

Gk, dodgy and has been for years. Lovren, has been mostly shit from day one. The odd good performance when the pressure is off papers over his cracks. Moreno is total garbage but is some how is now a starting 11 player this season. Henderson is no captain and goes missing far too much. Can, well, personally i think he's abit shit. He's slow, can't see passes quick enough and often his decision making is poor.

That's 5 first team players. Klopp wants to improve them with training but after 2 years, and them still being average, i would have thought he'd realise by now. These are the same guys that let us down in the 2 cup finals. At least we should have bought some players to put pressure on their places.

We did great last year, back in the champions league and this is a season to really kick on. We still might, but i think it's ok to question why we are going into a massive champions league qualifier and starting the season with those same players.

That's why i made the thread, i do think Klopp has too much faith in some of these guys and they have continually let him down.

This is some bad eye aids.

Klopp is absolutely magnificent and will be held accountable at the end of his tenure.

Stop wanting Klopps Dortmund team. That took a few seasons, losing good players etc but at the end was hailed a legend breaking the money at Bayern.

Give him time. We have time by QF for CL again next season. This was a 5 yr plan jobby. Let's see it through
