Needs to be ahead of Sturridge now, imo. He linked up more with Firmino and Mane in one game than Sturridge has in about a year and he doesn't take a billion touches that slows down the buildup.

 

The goals will only be a matter of time because it's obvious he isn't a donkey.

Early days but I don't think he has 'it'. Maybe a loan in the championship would do him the world of good, certainly a world away from being ready for a regular role in the squad.

It’s hard to have a go at a lad learning his trade, as it is what it is. He looks short of the required standard to play for Liverpool to me. Arguably he might have more impact with a strike partner, but playing as the lone striker he’s not up to it, even with some good players like Mane and Salah in the three behind him.

 

I think the way forward in the striking department is for us to spend the dough and sign a top class striker.

 

This assumes Coutinho leaves and Firmino moves a bit deeper.

 

If Firmino stays where he is then we need to sign another attacking midfielder who will weigh in with a healthy amount of goals, so they are spread around a bit more. Another with the impact of Mane or Salah. Even then, we still need a better alternate to a Firmino than a past-it Sturridge, or a learning-his-trade Solanke.

He may make it but we need better and he needs to go on loan imo.

 

LFC should not be blooding players like him or experimenting, especially in that position.

Against a packed defence yesterday he was never going to have much joy. Firmino should have started, I think he should get a chance to start against some of the lesser teams on the road,

I don't get it, Solanke made a deft flick from the throw-in sending Mane through and continued to run alongside him and should have been gifted a tap-in. I thought he was one of the positives from the match, specifically the first half. If he had scored in that attack, I honestly think Liverpool would have run riot and he would have been part of that.
