Its a real shame whats happened to him as a player. There was a moment at 0-0 where he took the ball off a defender and should have been through on goal but these days he's one of the slowest about and the defender recovered without any fuss.

 

Lets just hope someone is stupid enough to believe hes still anything like the forward that was banging them in.

A great win, I'm sure we are all very relieved. But lets not get too excited. The 'ammers were as poor a side as I can remember watching - including Watford the other week. The Iron I was chatting to before the match said they'd had their Cup Final the previous week against Spurs and would now relax. They left out a couple of guys who were carrying knocks and the ones who played, clearly, could not be arsed.

 

Once the second went in - and we had to wait too long for it - it could have been any score and we might just regret not going for the jugular and scoring a few more. 3rd is much more secure than 4th given the quality of teams likely to be in the qualifiers.

 

But, for the moment, life seems good. A few weeks ago we would all have taken the position we find ourselves in next Sunday. Bring it on.

It was ropey and familiar enough for the first half, was it not? But the most impressive aspect of that game was the way we started the second, I thought. Had Ayew equalised, however, everything might have been different...
