Great to hear you'll be in the ground. I'm in oz so am aware of the pilgrimage that you're undertaking.

I've got the kids booked into the Sydney match. Third time around but wish i could take them to Anfield.

I dare not have done this on the MF, where Baz Womble (with the occasional exception of Lifetime Fan - "Rodgers/et al can go in the summer" ) rules supreme....

.... but Sunday will be my first day at Anfield in 26 years (and my son's first ever), thanks to the artist formerly known as Paulie Gaultier.

So I thought I might start this thread.  Hopefully for good luck.

When I last left Anfield we were Champions.

We'll win Sunday I think.  I hope...

What age is your son? I'm sure my boy's first trip to Anfield will be in the company of his mother, but I'll be somewhere in the vicinity to see the look on his face as he walks in.

i do enjoy them mate.  Fantastic stuff, that.  A Camaro, a Vauxhall Viva and an Escort RS1600 on the front row.  What a race as well.

Features the main things missing from modern motorsport, more power than grip and variety in the cars. Far too much grip these days and the way the regulations are the cars are way to homogenised.

Lovely, He'll be old enough to get what is going on but small enough, in terms of the space he takes up, to view Anfield as being the size of Jupiter. Have fun.

First ever match I went to I was 8 and sat in the Kemlyn right next to the Kop. The place seemed massive in general and the Kop looked like it had about 30 million people in it.

All that to say that I'm weirdly conflicted about the game. On the one hand, obviously I want us to win. But on the other hand, if we beat them 5-0 or something I'm just going to sit there the whole time thinking "I could have been at this match!" so part of me wants a dour 0-0 so I can just say to myself "oh, well, wouldn't have been that great anyway."

Goes without saying that I hope you get over for a game one day, mate. This part of your post though reminds me of an occasion that still pisses me off to this day. I've still never been to see us play in a Champions League game and was promised two tickets for the game that we beat Besiktas 8-0. The lad sorting me out came to me the day before the game and told me that he could only get hold of one ticket or he could sort me out with a pair for a league game at the weekend instead. I didn't fancy going to the match on my own so I agreed to that, only for us then to leather Besiktas, breaking loads of records in the process.

FAO Skaro - I hope your nipper has a great time mate. What a feeling it is when you walk up those steps and see the pitch for the first time.

For a time after getting married and moving into our first house, we were broke. My brother-in-law, still living at home and unashamed about blagging off his parents, was flush. He seemed to have four tickets for every game and offered to pay for us both to go to the match. You go, I said to my wife, but both of us going would be taking the piss. So off they went to see Liverpool play Chelsea in the 2005 European Cup semi-final...*sigh*
