"I know lying is wrong, but if the elephant man came in now in a blouse with some make up on, and said "how do I look?" Would you say, bearing in mind he's depressed and has respiratory problems, would you say "go and take that blusher off you mis-shapened elephant tranny"? No. You'd say 'You look nice... John'"

I know there where rumours of Brucie throwing games but he didn't have to go that far to let one through his legs

I know I'm a day late but what the hell it deserves a mention.

March 30th 1976 UEFA Cup semi final first leg, John Toshack scores the only goal that defeats Barcelona (Cruyff and all)  at the Nou Camp ensuring that Liverpool become the first and so far only English club to have won there.

After the game not only were the Spanish press and Cruyff full of praise for the performance of the reds but even the ref said "not only was that one of the best sides I've seen but also one of the fairest..."

Oh and just for good measure we repeated the act in 2007

Roy Hodgson was our manager, once.

Let that one sink in for a minute.
