Liverpool Football Club have tonight appointed their new chief executive officer to replace Ian Ayre.

Peter Moore joins the Reds from Electronic Arts (EA) based in the US and will move to Liverpool to join the Club in the summer.

Liverpool-born Moore starts in June and will report directly to club owners, FSG.

He is currently Chief Competition Officer at EA where he has held a a number of positions for the last 10 years including chief operating officer and president of EA SPORTS.

The 61 year-old has previously held senior roles with Microsoft, SEGA and Reebok. He holds a bachelor's degree from Keele University in the UK and a master's degree from California State University.

The appointment completes a transition plan by FSG which included appointing Michael Edwards as sporting director while Billy Hogan was promoted to the role of managing director and chief commercial officer.

I don't know why FSG even bother employing anyone in roles like this.

We all know what the rules are. No signings over the age of 24 and not on more than £80k pwk.

We're fucked for success with these in charge and any manager who accepts and embraces this should be treated with caution for a club of our size.

FSG should have bought villla / Everton level clubs for their blueprint.

We became a great club by having better players than everyone else, not celebrating (or even knowing) how much the new stand or training ground will cost.

I hope this summer either proves me wrong or the entire fan base wake up to them.

Something has to give
