You've got until 15th January to get your lists in.

 

Standard rules are

 

1. Each contestant much pick 10 celebrities who they think will die between 00:01, 16th January 2016 and 23:59 31st December 2016. Lists are final as of the starting time.

 

2. When the death has been confirmed, points will be awarded, and the people who had them chosen may choose a new celebrity for their list.

 

3. A celebrity is defined as a person who lives their life in the public domain. If we have not heard of them, then we can reject them. A good rule of thumb is if they have a Wikipedia page that you didn't just make.

 

4. Death row prisoners and people in public 'right to die' cases are not permitted.

 

5. There is a 48 hour cooling off period after a person is chosen, to make sure they haven't died in the last day.

 

6. Your picks can be any age at all. No minimum or maximum for the categories, but points will be awarded like this:

50+ - 10 points

35-49 - 20 points

-35 - 30 points

 

Please PM me your lists, and I will begin the spreadsheet. This stops people copying your lists. Once the game begins, I will post the lists here. When you're sending your lists in, please put in the categories of your entrants in order like this...

What do people think about getting less points if a replacement pops it, so giving a benefit to getting them on your original list and not having as much benefit for reacting to recent news of an illness?

 

For instance, instead of 10-20-30, depending on age, getting 9-17-25, or 9-15-20 or something like that?

 

Would increase the admin for FG though

Interesting idea but, as you say, it makes the scoring a bit more/too complicated, like a previous suggestion to give extra points for a unique selection (which I think all three of mine to 'score' in 2016 were).

I was actually going to mention that in my round-up, I thought it was very impressive to have 3 of them, but then some work got in the way and I forgot...

 

I like that idea too, possibly awards greater research.

 

My thoughts on the lower score for a replacement is that, basically anyone who had Martin Crowe or Nancy Reagan last year, basically had Paul Daniels as a 2 for the price of 1 deal, which probably wasn't fair on those that didn't.

Made a few tweaks to the formula in my spreadsheet, and with the addition of all the various new reality/structured reality 'stars' over the past year, the number of celebrities increased by over 5k and is approaching 20k. In just a few years time, there will be more reality TV stars than all other kinds of celebrity combined.

Another idea would be to put 3 'subs' on your list, so when the first person goes, your 1st sub comes on to the list.

 

Once you have got through all 3 you are free to pick a completely new person?
