My missus has an Apple TV 2 anyone know of good sites that show you how to jailbreak it and then add kodi.

It can be a bit of a pain in the arse to be honest. It will probably be an oldish version of XBMC rather than Kodi as well. I think the developers have dropped support for it now.

  • 1 month later...

Got myself a firestick fully loaded from these www.techelectricals.com/?p=33

Works great and am very happy with it.

Didn't want to do it myself as I'm a bit of a technophobe and this way was just plug and play.

Would reccomend any lads n lasses on here to use these and I'm gunna be getting a few in for crimbo presents.

Bit spammy for a first post that Edgar.

Don't get an overpriced Fire TV Stick off that link. It's 55 quid. Reduced from 70. They are often on sale for 25 quid or cheaper and you can do it yourself in minutes.

You'll have to reset a "fully loaded" stick at some point so you may as well do it to start with.

So I've invested in and taken delivery of a Sumvision Android 4.4 Kodi 14.2 box.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sumvision-Android-Cyclone-X4-Streamer/dp/B00P7WI8AA/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1448046173&sr=1-1&keywords=sumvision+android+tv+box

The big TV in the living room wanted nothing to do with it.I tried to install it using the vacant 4th HDMI socket but just kept repeadly crashing the TV (a 5-year old Samsung) I did try it via the other HDMI sockets and then on its own after removing all other devices.

I managed to install it on the small tv in the bedroom without any such problem and after sifting through the volumes of information available on YouTube I have managed to install the following:

Using the 'Add -On Installer' Programme I manahaged to install the following repositaries:

.Mega

Fusion

twf

justnetwatch

Super Repo

Having got past that 'I appear' to have installed:

Genesis, Phoenix and Navi X and Sports Devil that appear 'to some degree' to be working.

and also

1 Channel and Ice Films that don't appear to be working.

Have I followed the correct procedure or fucked up? Does something else either need installing, updating or binning.

Have I been overly greedy grabbing all these elements? Do I need all of this

My requirements are the usual films, sports and porn.

I'd grateful for the definitive advice.

TIA,

Fair doos apologies for looking spammy. Been a member for a while .

It's not a custom skin one though . Just the standard so I won't have to redo it or anything as there all set to auto update too.

Just thought it might help some lads like me who arnt tech savvy enough to do it themselves

Ah things are always changing in Kodi. Developers falling out with each other has been the big thing the last couple of years with some people trying to make cash and some insisting it stick to it's free origins. Addons can't update if the repos change. Addons also come and go. Genesis, for example, is not going to be developed any further so will eventually stop working. There will be a newer and better alternative but if you don't know how to do it yourself it's not going to turn up on your preinstalled stick. Don't worry though, it's really not difficult to do it yourself. Plenty of help on here.

What do you want to watch?

Genesis is about the best allrounder still for TV and movies.

The ATV 2 isn't getting updated anymore with the newer versions of Kodi so it will probably stop working at some point. I should probably sell mine really. My 40 quid Raspberry Pi 2 works much better.

Yeah, I know - but there was nothing to be lost in trying it out.  It's beyond end of life as an Apple platform anyway.  If I think it's worth the hassle I'll invest in a cheap box.  I've got Genesis on it already; I thought there might be more stuff related to certain sports.

This is good for sports stuff. He regularly updates it. Not sure what's best right now as I use a paid service.

Ordered a firestick from Amazon,£32,but Ive paid a little more in postage to get here soon after xmas.

Decided I want to install Kodi on it myself as the Media Box I bought wasnt very good and the add ons on it werent as good as the ones I have on my laptop version.

I assume the guide to installing Kodi onto the stick on the first couple of pages of this thread are still relevant?
