God Hates LFC

Because LFC is down with the gayers.

Far right politician Paul Rimmer was condemned after claiming Liverpool FC have been cursed by God for ‘promoting’ homosexuality.

English Democrat Paul Rimmer’s comments have gone viral after he made the alleged homophobic remarks on his public Facebook page in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The former UKIP candidate and ex-BNP activist posted: “From the Bible, Sodomy defiles a Nation. Those who promote it will be punished & vomited out of the Land. Lev.18.23.

“In 2012 Liverpool FC sponsored the City’s Gay Pride Parade. Unless they repent they will be under a continual curse.”

Mr Rimmer, who was arrested in 2012 after challenging a gay rights rainbow flag flown at Toxteth’s Admiral Street police station, then suggested this had cost the Reds the Premier League title in May.

The pub doorman, who intends to stand for Liverpool Mayor in 2016 having lost out in 2012, said: “Liverpool were amazing last year, but the title was denied them.”

It was later pointed out to the 52-year-old that his Bible quote in fact refers to bestiality, not homosexuality, and he quoted further scripture.

He added: “Everyone knows homosexuality is wrong, but now we have to pretend its nice & normal and anyone who points out it’s a perversion is evil. This is a deep moral & spiritual sickness in our nation.”

In subsequent posts he accused the BBC of being “totally unpatriotic, anti-Christian & anti-white”, worshipping “sodomy & blackness” and pushing “pro-Moslem propaganda” and labelled feminists who criticised his remarks as “feminazis”.

UKIP today distanced itself from Mr Rimmer and his comments, which a spokesman for the party described as “idiotic”.

Paul Amann, Liverpool FC Supporters’ Committee LGBT representative, said Mr Rimmer’s comments were “out of date” and “inaccurate”.

He said: “The club has got a proud record of tackling discrimination and fighting inequality and has done some fantastic work.

“LFC has never sponsored Liverpool Pride but has marched at the event for three years in succession. Members of the women’s team, staff, club officials, supporters, ambassadors and directors have taken part, showing their support and recognising the wider LFC family.

“Also, Manchester City has a lively LGBT Supporters group called Canal Street Blues, which hasn’t stopped them from topping the table.”

Cllr Gary Millar, chairman of the Michael Causer Foundation – set up in memory of a murdered Liverpool teenager – and patron of Diversity Role Models, condemned what he described as “bigoted views”.

He said: “It’s easy for headline grabbers to equate lacklustre football results, floods and swarms of rainbow-coloured locusts to who loves who. Their views must not be explained away as an expression of free speech.

“People are not born ignorant, bigoted and hateful. Perhaps it’s a phase this supposed man of faith is going through but if he’s not sure I’ll introduce him to the parents of a young man killed due to hatred and bigotry.

“I can also introduce him to thousands of loving, accepting and wonderful straight people who don’t give a hoot who sleeps with who, or what their colour is, or whether they are rich or poor or their religion, or what neighbourhood they are from.

“Liverpool and the UK has no time for hatred but let’s not watch from the sidelines thinking someone else is stopping bigotry.

“It’s a job for us all and the views of the 70s should be sent back to the only place they belong – the fictional Life on Mars.

“But back on earth please report any form of hate crime to Merseyside Police’s Sigma Teams on 101.”

Mr Rimmer, from Toxteth, has previously described himself as a committed Christian and said he attends Belvedere Baptist Church.

He told the ECHO the comments he made were not his opinion, but simply the words of the Bible.

He said: “Basically it says in the Bible that certain forms of behaviour go against the laws of God and therefore God will react to them and he will curse those who wilfully disobey him.

“I am only repeating what is said in the Bible – it’s not my opinion, it’s what the Bible says.

“It’s just to make people aware God has a law and if you infringe this law there will be consequences.

“If people get upset by this it’s up to them. Christ calls on us to repent and believe.”

Mr Rimmer, who grew up in Walton and attended Croxteth comprehensive school, failed in his bid to become Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner two years ago.

The Cambridge politics graduate was originally a member of the Conservative Party and later joined the BNP before standing for UKIP in St Michael’s in 2011.

In 2012 and earlier this year he contested the ward on behalf of the nationalist English Democrats – gaining 60 votes in May.

UKIP said Mr Rimmer only represented the party for “two or three” months in 2011, before being thrown out for his previous affiliation with the BNP.

A UKIP spokesman said: “We didn’t know he had been a member of the BNP when he joined us.”

Mr Rimmer was arrested two years ago after arguing with a police officer about the force’s decision to fly the rainbow flag on International Day Against Homophobia.

He later said he intended to sue the force, claiming they were not supposed to “discriminate in favour of particular groups”.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: “A 52-year-old man was arrested back in May 2012 on suspicion of a Section 5 Public Order offence.

“We can confirm that following his arrest and subsequent enquiries he was told he would face no further police action.”

If you're a gayer he will save the day
He's brave and he's fearless come what may
He'll straighten you out so you don't go astray

He's Paul, Paul, Paul Rimmer

Without him life would be much grimmer
He's handsome, trim, and no-one slimmer
He will never need a zimmer

He's Paul, Paul, Paul Rimmer

More reliable than a garden trimmer
He's never been mistaken for Yul Brynner
He's not gay, and his hotpants don't glimmer

Master of the scripture and bible study
His command of Leviticus is uncanny
How come he's such a idiot? Don't ask me!

Ask Paul, Paul, Paul Rimmer

He's also a fantastic swimmer
And he needs to be because of his publicity

He's made a dog's dinner

He's Paul 'Closet' Rimmer

He's Paul, Paul, Paul Rimmer

In the closet oh what a quimmer
He'd better come out before we all simmer
And discover his secret as a bummer

And now, a message for you all from the Wesboro Baptist Church.

It's amazing to me how disproportionate media coverage is of fringe opinions these days.

There are literally less than 50 people who attend that church, most of whom are from a single family, and yet most people in England have heard of them.  Amazing.  The same goes for the UKIP, probably far less people are in it than you'd think judging by the coverage they get.  It used to be said "if it bleeds, it leads" when talking about news coverage; I think today the saying would be "if it's insane, it leads."
