Ill get some pictures and a proper post up later, never managed to get the banner out at the ground, as some prick in the front row wouldn't have it. Ended up having a kick off with him. Fell over a wall on the way out of the ground and bollocksed me ankle, me and the missus just got back to Sydney yesterday and hid on the couch with the post booze Fear.

Was sound to meet up with Nath and have a few jars.

Greetings, finally got around to a post re the banner and the Adelaide game – been snowed under with work, and tapatalk has been a pain in the arse crashing constantly – possibly due to iOS 9 beta, anyway digression out the way.

Me and the missus flew down to Adelaide on the sunday before the game, plenty of reds on the plane and a nice welcome from the airport.

Checked into our hotel, and headed down the main drag for a few beers, got chatting to a few other reds. We decided to do the full superfan gig and booked tickets for the training session at Coopers stadium Sunday night. We had a decent spec in the crowd, had a yarn with a family who moved over 40 odd years ago, and it was good to see Gary Mac back in red. Never been to a training session before, but it was a good turn out – few thousand people to watch the lads bollocksing about, while having a few beers, and all the money raised went to local charities.

While we were stood there Alex got chatting to a lady called Katie who asked if her son James could stand in front of us to get a few pictures of the players, only a kid of 14 or so, so we said get stuck in. Whilst they were talking, she told us James had a chronic kidney condition, he’d never been able to play footy and had now been told to get out and enjoy himself, and do all he could. This touched a bit of a nerve for me, as I only have 30% of my kidney function left. We had a few spares for the game from a couple of the lads who were working interstate and couldn't get the game, so asked if they had tickets for the game, when they said no we gave them the spares and said to get along for a good night.

We managed to get the banner out at coopers stadium and James grabbed a few photos of it for us.

We headed back to a boozer next to the stadium for a few beers after the training session, it was a good atmosphere and a few of the auld songs we’re sung.

Game day and we were headed to a boozy dinner event with Claymore Wines, who were one of the match sponsors, and Didi Hamann. The owner of Claymore had lived in Liverpool for 12 years during the 80’s, fell in live with the team and the culture, and named his wines accordingly, so there were wines named after pink floyd, u2 and LFC.

I said to Alex we should head out and pick up a Liverpool shirt and ask Didi to sign it, and pass it on to James and Katie before the match.

Got to the dinner and made a head start on a bottle of Dark Side of The Moon (nice drop of Shiraz), before a top notch fish dish washed down with a bottle of boot room Shiraz.

Alex went over and spoke to the owner of Claymore – Anuha – and asked if he would be able to get Didi to sign the shirt, top bloke he was right onto it.

We finished the food, wine, quick photo session with Hamann and then headed back the digs for an hours breather, and ended up watching some best of country sales promo with Kenny Rodgers on the telly, before heading down the stadium from r some pre-match bevvys.

Got back down to the Claymore stand at the ground, got chatting to a few lads from Perth who had emigrated 15 years ago, and got the banner out, couple of the lads had it up so we could grab some pictures.

Had a few more glasses of wine and then found Nath (ticklemeclemo of TLW fame) and a few weeks of his mates. Great to put a face to an Internet name, and good to have a yarn with a good red and Adelaide locals, though I was half cut by this time.

Time to head into the game, we met Katie and James and handed the shirt over, was sound to see him made up with it, and then we headed around to our gate.

There were a few mancs singing antiscouse songs in the queue next to us, so me and the missus ended up giving them a load of shit, couldn't understand what would possess the bitter bastards, but as we were tanked they got a good volley of abuse back.

Headed into our seats which were about 20 rows back, then thought I had to get down the front with the banner, so left Alex in the seats clutching 4 more glasses of wine and set off on a mission. Tried to get the banner out and the front and this auld baldy bastard started kicking off saying yer not having that here, I paid for theses seats – I was trying to hang it over the railings in front of him, not on his fucking seat. Anyway ended up having a massive Barney with him, folded the banner back up and headed back to me seat. It continued to piss us off through the first half so I headed back down and had a go at the knobhead again, told hi, he was a fuckwit and didn't get it – I had drunk a fair amount by this point, but the bloke was a fucking knob.

Anyway, game ended, and apparently we headed back for our digs. I had the banner in a rucksack on my back, whilst it’s not the heaviest thing in the world, I have all the balance and coordination of a pissed penguin when I'm sober, add in the good skinful we’d sank and it was like bambi on ice. According to the missus, I managed to somersault over an 18 inch wall on the way back, and she couldn't pick me up, I couldn't get myself up and due to the rucksack she said I was stuck like a fucking turtle, luckily someone stopped t help her get me on my feet- this story was relayed to me at 6 am the next morning I a taxi headed to the airport, when I was trying to work out why my left ankle was twice it’s normal size, my right elbow was fucked and I had a foreboding sense of dread.

Anyway, was a great way to d trip overall, but missed the game, and haven't touched a drop since – which my kidneys are thanking me for – but looking forward to a few more glasses of claymore wine in the not too distant future, highly recommended, and we’re gonna stay in touch with Katie and James and see if we can help with his bucket list.

Don't know if the question of what to do with any remaining funds was still open...may well have been boxed off for expenses or the like, haven't completely kept up with the thread.

On the off-chance it hasn't been, does anyone reckon Steve might have liked the idea of a small donation to young James's bucket list?

There's a hundred odd quid left in the kitty which was agreed we'd hold back for expenses for posting the banner around but its always about the consensus and I'd never consider the collection closed. Continuing it to contribute to other life affirming projects sounds like a fitting legacy to me

Should have been on to this sooner...

How about we make plans to get Green Jesus over here? Have you still got the banner, Arthur?

Bump.

Do you reckon we could get Green Jesus over for the trip to Old Trafford? All (reasonable) costs will be reimbursed
