I think the biggest difference with him wasting the ball is he wastes it when he should make things happen and Coutinho and Firminho waste it when they are trying to make things happen.

 

I'm not Salah's biggest fan (as yet), but Firmino gives the ball away more than Salah; 5.2 times per game due to either getting dispossessed or miscontrol, compared to Salah's 4.8. I would like to see both of them rested for the Burnley game and see how Sturridge, Coutinho and Ox get on.

No Salah or Mane equals no width and no width v likes of Burnley is bad news IMO.

I think he's started pretty well and looks a threat. I made a comment about him running around like a headless chicken in the Hoffenheim game at Anfield which I get ripped for every time he does something half decent (as you'd expect!)

 

I do think he has a funny way of running though!

 

He's by no means the finished article and has some pretty glaring weaknesses but he'll score plenty of goals simply down to his searing pace and also because he's always in the box sniffing around for a goal.

True stattos understand that number is meaningless until you divide it by the total touches a player gets which gives you the all important possession metric. 

Firmino is well ahead in that.

All that is before any serious analyst figures in the tackles won per game.

I agree with this. He'll be frustrating at times but he'll keep getting into the right positions.

At present, he needs 3 chances to score. I'm pretty relaxed about it although, obviously, if he can improve on that we will all be delighted.

 

I was watching a Sky programme celebrating Messi's 500 goals for Barca the other day and noticed he scored a large number from the right. Usually, he'd line up to curl a left footer into the far corner and then drag it inside the near post. Thought at the time Mo could profit from that move.
