For any of you who couldn't be at the game today, here's a little story. It's a bit soppy so skip past it if you don't like that sort of thing.

Personally I thought it was a really nice cameo by the Family Salah.

On the last game of the season, the players come out after the final whistle. They do a lap of honour with their family. The pitch is full of little kids scoring goals and tackling each other. It's a great sight actually.

So today, as we waited behind to watch this ceremony, we saw dome officials bringing out what looked like a garage door. It turned out to be that backdrop you can see in the clip above. We then saw (we were in the mainstand) King Kenny carrying the PotY award. So we guessed Salah was going to be presented with it.

Moments later Salah emerged form the tunnel. He was walking hand in hand with his little girl towards the other King. His daughter was a tiny dot, couldn't be much older than 3. He picked her up and was presented with the award whilst carrying her. Beautiful family moment. He was then to be presented with 2 other awards, so he put his daughter down. Mum appeared from the tunnel, and the little girl ran across the pitch to her. The crowd responded with a cheer. The little girl became braver, and at a safe distance in front of mum she kicked out at a football. A huge "ole' rang out from the crowd. The little girl looked up in a bit of surprise, then kicked out at the ball again to see if the same thing happened.

"Ole!"

Fascinated, she continued kicking and dribbling the ball. "Ole! ......Ole.......Ole....Ole!" Each time it was kicked "Ole!"

By now Mo was finished receiving his multitude of well deserved awards and started towards his daughter,. Mum stayed at a safe distance in the tunnel entrance and didn't venture out, at this point.

To the little girl's delight, the crowd shouted "Ole!" each time she touched the ball. And as her dad was receiving an award, there were no other kids on the pitch, she had Anfield to herself. "Ole....Ole!...Ole!" the crowd shouted as she dribbled. Dad arrived and joined in. He gently tackled the ball. "BOO!!", "BOO!!!" the crowd shouted. Mo looked shocked. He stretched out his arms in mock questioning at the strange and only time he had ever heard the Anfield crowd boo him.

"Ole....Ole....Ole" Rang out as the little girl dribbled the ball back.

Sky showed most of it.....was brilliant.

Nicely written, pal.

He is still looking at claiming a few other goals so he will be the most scoring mong. Amd people ask why noone wants to watch the england team, there is a fairly good reason.

Will be a highlight of the world cup watching him head in hands as ingerlund get bounced out.

I heard him on 5live and he was essentially quite magnanimous. He talked about his pride at doing it year after year but not as a swipe from the way he said it.

Having said that, he missed a chance to win back some of the people that have taken the piss out of him in recent weeks though, by saying a little tongue in cheek self deprecating comment about claiming all 5 goals today, or something.
