Boss music in games

Rockstar are pretty much the kings when it comes to in-game music.

 

I thought that the moment in Red Dead when you crosses over to Mexico and they in-game soundtracked it with Jose Gonzales was a bit special.

This, from around 50 seconds or so in. I just find it fucking epic when the game setting is also right (freaking out a little when fighting a boss at the same time obviously adds to the effect.) Gives me shivers/goosebumps (and I know you meant boss music as in good music, this was just the first related thread I found for it.)  :

always loved the music in the megaman games on the nes.

I think even Hans Zimmer would be impressed with some of the music from Skyrim, the first one reminds me quite a bit of something from a Batman film too. I don't think any of this would have sounded out of place at all in that trilogy either because it's made so well (third one won't show here for some reason.)

Have just checked and the composer hasn't done many films, surprised. He's considered one of the best for games though (Jeremy Soule : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremy_Soule ) :

Edit : ok, I'm listening to Hans Zimmer from The Dark Knight Rises soundtrack (Imagine The Fire is amazing.) and maybe it's not quite at that level, but if he had the chance to do a big film I think he'd adapt and do it well.

Just got another SMT game and this tune is kind of stuck in my head. Hearing it for the first time with bass as well, sounds quite a bit different.

It's not really the style of music I'd listen to, but Transistor's soundtrack fits the game really well and sounds great played through proper speakers.
