Iago Aspas' move to Liverpool is expected to be completed soon despite a delay over red tape.

The Celta Vigo striker had a medical at Liverpool's Melwood training ground on Tuesday, but flew back to Spain the following day with the transfer yet to be completed.

Liverpool are thought to have settled on a fee of £7million for Aspas, whose 12 goals in La Liga last season helped his club avoid relegation.

Jonathan Aspas, the striker's brother and agent, told Spanish radio station Radio Galega he was confident that the paperwork would go through without a hitch.

He said: "There should be no problems. Now only bureaucratic issues remain unresolved."

If we keep Luis then I expect us to top the disciplinary chart end next season. If you think Luis gets booked a lot , which he does. This guy makes him look like angelic.

Pretty sure he got about 3 red cards last season and was banned for four games for headbutting a player to. He can be a bit reckless sometimes and by that I mean think Stevie in his younger days and tackling.

If he plays the same way for us , he is going to be the new terrace hero. He is 100% every game and gives his all (hence his disciplinary record) .

The only faults if you can call them that is he is sometimes reluctant to take a guy on when he is on the wing. I don't know why he does it but he tends to pass backwards a lot when faced with a one on one. Seems to be only when he is out wide he does it.

He will need to try and watch himself on the pitch wit h his tackling , although I get a feeling if he done that it might take a big part of his game away.

When you think how cheap he is and how many goals he scored , it dosent make sense that another Spanish club wont pay that little for him.

He rejected Valencia apparently, though I'd say even in our current plight we're more attractive than everyone in Spain but Madrid and Barca and maybe Atletico depending on a players priorities

Most Spanish clubs outside the top two are skint and won't be able to pay the wages a Premier League club would be able to.

Liverpool remain confident of completing a deal for Iago Aspas from Celta Vigo despite the signing being blocked by the Spanish FA.

Liverpool have already announced their confidence of completing a deal for Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas on their official website, but the signing is being blocked by the Spanish FA.

Reds managing director Ian Ayre has reportedly been dealing with unauthorised agents, according to the Daily Mirror, even after he found out that he was not speaking to the player’s official FIFA-licensed representatives.

Aspas is contractually represented by Carmelo Vicente and Jorge Santome until 2014, but the Spaniard attempted to push through his Anfield switch by hiring PromoEsport, a company based in Barcelona.

As a result of their fury with Ayre, Liverpool and PromoEsport, Celta Vigo and the Spanish FA have not yet sent over the player’s International Transfer Certificate.

Liverpool remain confident of concluding a deal for the 25 year-old, who scored 12 goals in La Liga from 34 appearances last season in his only season in the Spanish top flight.

However, they may need to appease his country’s FA and Celta Vigo if the transfer is to go through

Liverpool's Iago Aspas move BLOCKED by Spanish Football Federation

14 Jun 2013 16:17

Liverpool’s signing of Iago Aspas is being blocked by the Spanish Football Federation in a legal row over the player’s representation.

And according to emails seen by MirrorSport, Kop managing director Ian Ayre continued to negotiate with unauthorised agents over the deal even after discovering that he was not dealing with the player’s official FIFA-licensed representatives.

Aspas has a representation agreement with Jorge Santome and Carmelo Vicente until 2014, but attempted to force through a move to Anfield by enlisting the help of Barcelona-based agency PromoEsport.

As exclusively reported by the Daily Mirror last week, wrangling over the deal was holding up the finalisation of the transfer, and Celta Vigo and the Spanish Federation are now so furious at the conduct of Ayre, Liverpool and PromoEsport that they are refusing to release Aspas’ International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

This means that although the 25-year-old could be presented as a Reds player and even train with the side, while the RFEF refuse to release the ITC the player cannot feature in any official matches for the Reds.

Santome and Vicente are now taking action against PromoEsport through the Spanish Federation, backed by Celta Vigo and several other La Liga clubs who are angry with PromoEsport’s conduct.

The agency, which on their website claims to represent another Liverpool target, Barcelona’s Luis Alberto, is banned from the Celta training ground and used the player’s brother to present the offer to the Galician club in order to hide their involvement.

A Liverpool spokesman said: “There was a complication with the paperwork. For the deal to be completed both FAs have to release the paperwork and we are waiting for that to happen. However, we are confident that will be done shortly.”
