Apparently Barca reps are in England today to flesh out a deal before the day is over.

This will sure be interesting. It's definently a test of LFCs resolve, and is a bit like the Suarez situation: it boils down to if we have a hard stance towards selling or not.

If we do sell a fan riot is likely, based on the fact that we've bought only one proper 1st team player this summer (Salah). Signing a high quality Coutinho replacement will be of utmost importance - if we do end up selling him.

The next couple days will sure be interesting.

Reports of Cou slacking off in training to get a move. Shit source though. Also say a deal is hours away, Klopp I'd against the sake but FSG might sanction it anyway.

Riots indeed.

To be honest Ive rarely seen this much in the press about a transfer and it not happened. Just one more year Phil. Playing Mane and Salah in. Please and thanks.

From James Pearce

Liverpool remain adamant that Philippe Coutinho is staying put as the Brazilian battles to prove his fitness in time for Saturday’s Premier League opener at Watford.

Senior Anfield officials have rubbished reports in Spain that the Reds are involved in negotiations with a delegation from Barcelona who flew into the UK today.

Liverpool insist there are no talks because their position remains unchanged that Coutinho isn’t for sale at any price during the current window.

Coutinho reported back to Melwood as planned on Tuesday after Jurgen Klopp gave his squad two days off following Saturday’s 3-1 win over Athletic Bilbao.

The 25-year-old didn’t train with his team-mates as he continues to have treatment on the sore back which forced him to sit out the trip to Dublin.

There are no issues or concerns about Coutinho’s attitude around the club. He has been fully committed in training during pre-season and shone in the wins over Hertha Berlin and Bayern Munich, but has been sidelined since a back issue flared up during last week’s Audi Cup.

The ECHO understands that Coutinho would accept the chance to join Barcelona if a fee was agreed between the clubs. However, he has been informed by Klopp that won’t happen and has since shown no signs of agitating for a move.

As it stands Coutinho appears unlikely to submit a written transfer request. He doesn’t want to disrespect Liverpool who gave him the platform to really launch his career in Europe four-and-a-half years ago after a frustrating spell at Inter Milan.

Reports in the Catalan media claimed that owners Fenway Sports Group had approved the sale of Coutinho with Barcelona prepared to pay £100million in order to force through a deal in time for him to make his debut against Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercup on Sunday.

Barcelona are flush with cash following the £200million sale of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain but Liverpool insist they will have to look elsewhere for a replacement.

Coutinho is under contract until 2022 and doesn’t have a release clause.

I hope we take the Barca bigwigs to some rough arse boozer in town to 'flesh out' the details. Instead we will be buying them lobster in some posh london hotel. I'd get Purple Aki to meet them off the flight then just drive them round the Dingle for about 8 hours until they get fed up and beg to be let out.

Sources close to the club are saying Klopp is making Moreno wear a Coutinho wig and a number 10 training bib during todays training session in order to put off the Barca spies that have been seen flying drones over Melwood. not sure how reliable the source is tho, he is the plant water man and has been known to drink heavily during work hours.

No wonder the plants in the reception look all withered.

Philippe Coutinho set for Barcelona as deal agreed with Liverpool -

Barcelona have reached an agreement with Liverpool to sign Philippe Coutinho after the Brazilian put pressure on the Premier League club to let him leave, sources close to the Catalan club told ESPN Deportes' Jordi Blanco.

Coutinho is set to join Barca for a base fee of €90 million (£81.6m), with bonuses that could bring the deal to €120m (£108.8m), as the Catalan club begin to spend the €222m they received from Paris Saint-Germain for Neymar last week.

A delegation from Barcelona headed up by chief executive Oscar Grau travelled to Liverpool on Monday night to finalise the negotiation, sources said.

The Brazilian midfielder told Liverpool earlier in the day that he wanted to leave and join Barcelona, sources close to the player have told ESPN Brasil.

Liverpool reportedly rejected a an €80m (£72m) offer from Barcelona last month, while manager Jurgen Klopp said last week that the Catalan side can "save their energy" in their pursuit of Coutinho, and sources close to the club were still telling ESPN FC on Tuesday morning the 25-year-old was not for sale.

But sources have now told ESPN Brasil and ESPN Deportes the deal is set to go through after the player spoke to Klopp about his desire to leave.

Barca's interest in Coutinho predates Neymar's move to Paris Saint-Germain, though, and it's unlikely he's been signed as a direct replacement for his compatriot. Coutinho was a player the club felt could complement Neymar as Andres Iniesta grows older

Earlier this summer, there were reports that Neymar hoped to link up with Coutinho in Paris, but Coutinho preferred a move to Barca and could now find himself filling Neymar's role as the left forward in Ernesto Valverde's side, although the club eventually see him playing as a central midfielder.

The move is being led by Coutinho's agents Kia Joorabchian and Sam Kohansal, who also hope to negotiate a move for Paulinho to join Barca from Guangzhou Evergrande in the coming days.Coutinho is already familiar with Barcelona, having spent time living in Barcelona while on loan at Espanyol from Inter in 2012, before eventually joining Liverpool from the Italian side for €10m the following year.

In four-and-a-half seasons at Anfield he has made 182 appearances and scored 42 goals, becoming a key part of Jurgen Klopp's team. He will be reunited with former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez at Barcelona.

Earlier, former Liverpool captain and manager Graeme Souness said the Premier League club would struggle to keep hold of Coutinho as it is hard for a player to turn down Barcelona.

"I don't think you can [keep him]," Souness told Sky Sports, which reported on Monday that Coutinho wanted to leave Liverpool. "The chance to play for a team that would suit his style of play, I don't think he can say no to it, as hard as that is for Liverpool to accept.

"Ultimately if he wants to go he will go, as much as the club won't want him to. He's on a contract but if the big players want to go these days then they get their own way."

Fellow former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher said he believed his old club may be able to hang on to Coutinho for now, but face a battle in keeping him away from Barca further down the line.

"I don't think he will go. But he will want to go and wear that shirt," he told Sky Sports. "Who wouldn't want to go? It's Barcelona.

"I'm sure whether it's this summer or next summer Philippe Coutinho will want to wear that shirt and go to Barcelona. There's nothing wrong with it. That's football."

Barcelona are still reported to be pursuing Borussia Dortmund's Ousmane Dembele, too, although Diario Sport reported there has been little progress in talks with the German club.
