I've been on record for a while in saying I didn't think FSG would be spending any (significant anyways) money in January, especially not on strikers. I think these two recent articles in the Mirror should put any further speculation to rest because both articles quote Dalglish directly and both emphatically state the club is not looking for anyone up front. Read 'em and weep and put away all the fantasies about various strikers etc, the club is clearly telegraphing it ain't going to happen. No replacement for Lucas either as the club is quite happy with Spearing, Henderson and the hoped for return of Gerrard Liverpool ready to break back into…

Who do you want to win this game ? I'm going to opt for Spurs to win as I think we'll have a better chance of overtaking Chelsea. Now Spurs are out of Europe they've no added distractions. I think Chelsea are so desperate to win the Champions League it will affect their league form in the long run.

For the MF. I am reliably informed he is out for a while. When I asked if its a minor knock or out till xmas, I was told he won't be back soon. Can't give any dates etc. I imagine the press will be asking questions and getting dates soon.

...but I think those photos of the squad at Alder Hey are fucking ace. I know it's not that big a deal for them to go and that they're only doing part of their job, but the looks on those kids' faces are fantastic; they're so made up to see the players. I know from personal experience how tough it is for kids in there and I know this will have been brilliant for everyone involved. Probably the best thing though is that the players look so relaxed; barely a fixed grin or awkward pose in sight. Heart-warming stuff. Well done Reds. Just having a look at the fixtures, and providing the weather doesn't intervene, we've a great chance to put the dodgy start to the season behind us. In between the two Man City games, we then have a run of six league games we should be winning. There's eighteen points for there taking, and if we manage to get a result in either of the games against City this it would be fucking great. This run of games is going to determine our season. 27 Nov 2011 Manchester City H 16:00 5 Dec 2011 Fulham A 20:00 10 Dec 2011 QPR H 15:00 18 Dec 2011 Aston Villa A 14:05 21 Dec 201…

Serious question that only we could debate rationally in this forum. With Sktrel and Agger looking like the best CB pairing in the PL now that Vidic is injured and Sebastian Coates being the future for LFC what llies in store for JC. Id hate for him just to drift into the wilderness but we do have to look to the future with Coates having meant to have more talent than Phil Jones he is going to want to get game time pretty soon. Be very interesting to see how Kenny handles the situation. At the moment Kenny is doing exactly the right thing playing the best available players. Maybe we send Coates on loan in January to get him valuabale game time thus giv…

I have been sayiing for years as all the brits saying we dont like this or that and we dont need Europe that one of these days Europe would turn around and say we dont need you and were fed up of trying to have to accomodate you. Yesterday we reached that point with the UK being booted out of the EU without realising they have been booted out of the EU. You can only threaten to be a destroyer so many times before you blough is called and to be fair Sarkozy played a blinder. No guess which battleground the next UK election will be fought The French never wanted us in it and in reality they kicked us out of it

I sen a few snaps from this earlier, nothing original; Gareth Barry as Wally; Hargreaves as man in ill fitting pvc suit; Richard as....a soldier !!!!!! Kun as a Janette Cranky Dzeko as Vader with a costume he got from poundland; Not much to talk about really, and I must say I was disappointed to see Lescott hadn't bothered dressing up instead braving the elements in this flimsy City shirt;

The Question: Is the 3-1-4-2 formation on the rise? By Jonathan Wilson, Tuesday 13 December 2011 14.36 GMT Something very odd happened at the end of last week. Historical changes in tactics usually happen incrementally over time: there would be rumours of a side doing something unusual ("and they say the centre-forward plays in midfield …") followed by a pivotal game in which that tactical change proves decisive and is accepted as a new phase in football's development (Nandor Hidegkuti picks England apart while scoring three in Hungary's 6-3 win at Wembley in 1953). More recently, perhaps, with the blanket televisation of football, it's been possible to trace the…

Often happens that I find something football related, but don't find it necessary to start a new thread for it so I end up not posting it or posting it in a thread that doesn't really relate to the subject. So here it goes: The Showboat shot that got Mario Balotelli substituted v LA Galaxy The little shrug, he doesn't give a fuck! More nutters in football please. He'd do my fucking piece in if he was playing for my team but as it stands I bloody love him.

I was reading that whiney thread about being a gold member on the FF and it was mentioned once or twice by some decent non-gold forumites about the FF people not been allowed to rep/neg. In was wondering that if a non-member was able to give out reps and negs then it may make them want to take part more, and so possibly decide to be part of the community that doesn’t suffer from WUMs on the MF. It may give them more of a sense of community. If even one person joined up because of this then wouldn’t it be worth it? So I was wonder what the opinions were of this forum as to whether or not the non-members should be allowed rep/neg privileges? Obviously I’m not …

The FF match threads are fucking atrocious most of the time, full of ill thought out spur of the moment outbursts. I rarely, if ever, post in them for fear of catching mong, but I got to thinking yesterday that it would provide a wonderful game, akin to the commentator cliche game. Not really worked out the rules of the game yet, but it could be very amusing. Rough idea so far is poster most likely to call a player a cunt, poster most likely to ask for Kenny to be sacked, doesn't know what he's doing etc. The first instance of it wins a point, have about five or six questions and the poster who predicts most correct/first wins the admiration of his peers. Any…

We're in good form and it'd be a great shame if it ended here. It's also a good chance to start a good run of winnable games over the next four weeks. Same as last year would be nice. It will be interesting to see who replaces Lucas. In my opinion, I'd give Spearing the chance. With Lucas potentially out for the rest of the season, this is a massive chance for Spearing, and it could be argued it could be his last if he doesn't take it. I'm more confident he will than won't. He's been a little bit rusty the few times he's played this season, but I just said it there, the few times he's played; he seems to be the kind of player who once gets a run of games in the te…

Anybody else found that after an upgrade of the app, you can view the threads on the MF even though you're not logged in? You can't reply to a thread but you can view it. Looks like there could be an issue with forum runner and permissions.

Bets to follow. (while I type the best in, here's something to read) Liverpool will hope to continue their dominant record over Queens Park Rangers at Anfield, as Kenny Dalglish aims to get their season back on track. A painful defeat at Fulham on Monday night ended the Merseysiders' recent unbeaten run, with Jay Spearing seeing red in his club's first defeat in 12 matches. The loss also cost Liverpool what would have been a record-equalling seventh successive away win and they now return home hoping to avoid a continued theme of their season. Dalglish has seen his side suffer frustrating draws at Anfield against the likes of Sunderland, Norwich and Swa…
