That was the week that was (Jun 2-8 2018)

Saturday Jun 2…

The King says we shouldn’t boo Coutinho when he plays for Brazil at Anfield tomorrow. He’s probably right, but if anyone at Anfield tomorrow wants to give him some shit then I feel like they’re entitled to. I wouldn’t do it myself (not that I’m going anyway) but if someone wants to let him know they don’t like the shit he pulled to get away then that’s fine. This just shows the difference between how people in the game think and the way fans do.

Footballers don’t see things like fans do. None of those players have any beef with Coutinho even though in our eyes he faked a back injury to get out of playing. You’d think his team-mates would be pissed off about it but I’d be willing to bet there isn’t one who feels that way. Like with that twat Ramos. We’d like to think that the players are angry about what happened and want revenge, but I bet they aren’t. I bet even Mo doesn’t give a fuck about it. As I say, they just don’t see things the way fans do.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are opening talks with Fellaini. Bloody hell, Wenger isn’t even cold in his grave yet and they’re already doing all they can to wipe out his legacy by signing the least Wenger player on the planet. Genuinely don’t know how any top side could even entertain the idea of having Fellaini on their books. Not a midfielder, not a striker, not even really a footballer. His position is “nuisance”.

Sunday Jun 3…

Some Italian third division side want Karius on loan for a year. Fuck off, you publicity seeking pricks. Hate all this shite, happens all the time when some little nomark team sees an opportunity for five minutes of fame.

Meanwhile, at Anfield, Lovren had a great game but was on the losing side as Neymar and Firmino both got on the scoresheet as Brazil edged out Croatia. Bobby’s goal was boss, at the Kop end too. Absolute fucking joke that he’s not first choice for them. Thick Brazilian fucks with their centre forward blind spot. They won’t win the world cup as they’re basically just a workmanlike side that relies on occasional moments of brilliance. Germany will spank them again if they meet in this tournament.

Also today, Yaya Toure has done a scathing interview about ‘Pep’. The interview will be published tomorrow but from the teasers it’s been pretty hard hitting and he even accuses him of racism. Hope he refers to him as ‘Baldiola’ at least once, or I’ll be disappointed.

Monday Jun 4…

So it turns out Karius had a concussion after being clunked on the temple by Ramos. Well, that’s according to a hospital in Boston that receives large annual donations from John Henry anyway. Conspiracy theories aside, he could well have had a concussion as he was hit pretty hard and what happened two minutes later was somewhat, shall we say, unprecedented.

This just adds to the massive sense of injustice I have about it all. Fucking Ramos the cunt, allowed to just run amok by the officials and our players. Hope someone breaks his fucking stupid tattooed neck at the World Cup (Hegazi, I’m count on you here big fella).

No-one will ever know whether the concussion caused the howlers, but there has to be a pretty big chance that it contributed. Some are saying he should have asked to come off, but the thing with concussions is that you don’t always know you have one. Players often think they can blow off the cobwebs and they'll be fine.

I’ve seen it happen loads of times in the NFL but they’re all over this shit now because of all the lawsuits from players who played on with head injuries. Maybe it will take something like that here to get the FA to take it seriously? Shit, there's loads of players from the 60s and 70s suffering from dementia now. A similar thing was happening with old NFL players and they got together and sued the shit out of the league. There's even a fucking movie about it, with Will Smith in the starring role. Poor Karius though. This may well be the thing that caused him to unravel, but most will just see it as an excuse and I’ve already seen loads of “always the victim” comments on social media.

Then there's our own fans, wringing their hands about anyone who dares bring it up. "Let it go, we lost" "this is embarrassing". Mad how people who profess to not give a fuck what the rest of the country thinks are getting their knickers in a right knot about what the rest of the country think.

Meanwhile, some bullshit report came out of France today claiming Madrid had agreed a deal to sign Mané but it fell through because Zidane left. Yeah, I was meant to be signing for them too but when Zidane quit it left me high and dry as well. See, we can all peddle that kind of bullshit. Could easily have come from his agent though, as Sadio is due for a contract extension.

That Yaya interview lived up to its billing. Fucking hell, he completely savaged Guardiola and did indeed accuse of him of being a big ol’ racist who doesn’t like African players. The really interesting part of it all was a quote by his agent though. This is fucking nuts this, but I like it:

"I officially declare that Yaya is ready to move as a free agent to any English club of the top six with a salary of one-pound-a-week, but with a bonus system based on certain successes. I believe that a player like Yaya would not reject Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool".

Fucking hell, he's really got a hard on for Guardiola hasn't he? A pound a week? I'd take him, let him sit on the bench and bring him on in the last half an hour against those park the bus teams. Klopp won't though, not least because Yaya presses about as well as I do. The bigger issue is that he's a bit of a knob isn't he? Incredibly high maintenance. He'll end up in China I reckon, and he won't be getting paid £1 a week.

Tuesday Jun 5…

What the hell? Germany have left Leroy Sane out of their squad but they are taking that flaky bastard Ozil. What's that all about? Did they let Wenger pick the squad while ol’ Yogi was picking dangleberries out of his arse (and snacking on them)? Good job Danny Welbeck doesn’t have a German passport or Thomas Muller would also be sat at home.

In other news, Sergio Ramos releases a World Cup song. Let me guess, it’s a cover of “Mama said knock you out” and the video will be him bouncing around Kiev sparking our players. Twat. He also said this….

So this is me right now….

Wednesday Jun 6…

Pep Ljinders is back, but still no Buvac. I don’t see that one ending in a happy reunion, but it’s good to have Ljinders back as he’s the main bridge between the kids and Melwood and Klopp puts a lot of stock in his judgement.

Meanwhile, Villa are in big trouble after not paying their tax bill. Any excuse to post this….

Shaqiri? Nah I’ll pass on that. It’s nothing against him, I think he’s a good little player and he’d be a decent rotation option, but I don’t think I could cope with my arl fella if we signed him. Every home game it’d be the same…

Me: “No, Dad, I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have Downs Syndrome”
Dad: “Well he’s definitely got something. I like him though, he’s a smashing little player”.

Honestly, I'm not kidding, my mum has to have that conversation with him every time there’s a Stoke game on. He fucking loves Shaqiri though, he’d be made up if we signed him. Me? Not so much.

In other news today, Courtois has a pop at Karius in a press conference. "It happened to me with Alexis Sanchez -- I had a concussion and I couldn't see the ball, so after 20 minutes I went out of the game because I couldn't see the ball.” Right, and every concussion is exactly the same of course. Fucking dickhead.

"I feel sorry for what happened with him, but to blame it on concussion that he made those mistakes -- he also made two amazing saves. So that was luck then? I don't know because he couldn't see the ball. It can happen as a goalkeeper but to blame it on a concussion now, I find it strange. But if medics say that from Boston, it's OK."

Do I detect some sarcasm there? So much for the goalkeepers union, eh? But then I suppose loyalty is too much to expect from a man who stole his team-mate’s bird. Gormless, lanky Chelsea twat.

Bobby also did a press conference for today. He said he hopes Alisson will sign for us but that he’s got several offers. Don’t really like that at all. Firstly, I hate it when the likes of Barca do it with our players, and secondly it feels like he’s kicking Karius while he’s down. At least he followed it up by calling Ramos "a big idiot" though.

Another of our World Cup contingent is in the news today. Lovren might be facing jail time over some surgery thing. I’ve read up on the case but I’m still none the wiser. Basically seems to be some dodgy fucker who owned half the players in the Croatian league was trousering transfer fees. It’s a massive scandal over there and fans are furious about it.

No idea what Lovren has or hasn’t done but it seems like he could be facing charges soon. Modric too, he’s up to his neck in it and seems to be in worse bother than Lovren. He plays for Madrid though, so expect a full pardon for him and the chair for poor Dejan.

Thursday Jun 7…

Kinell, spoke to my Mum this morning and asked her what my Dad thought about the Shaqiri rumour. He doesn’t go online so he gets most of his news through her. She says it played out like this: Her: “See they reckon we might be signing that Downs Syndrome lad”. Him: “Good, I like him”.

And that was it. She went back to browsing the forum and he carried on watching ‘Murder She Wrote’. We then got talking about Karius and his concussion. Well, I say ‘we’ but it was mostly her talking. Well, I say ‘talking’, it was more ranting. Here’s a summary in bullet point form:

  • He doesn’t have a concussion, FSG got their Boston doctor mates to put that out there.
  • She never liked him from the start and he “doesn’t even look like a goalkeeper”.
  • He should “go back to his bloody catalogue” because “modelling is all he’s good for”.
  • He should never have been given Mignolet’s place and if the Mig had gotten to play behind Van Dijk he’d have looked much better.
  • If he stays, it shouldn’t be as a goalkeeper it should be as a mannequin modelling the kit in the club shop window.
  • He wasn’t actually crying in Kiev, he was faking it.

There was probably more, but I couldn’t take it all in as I was so shocked at the brutal nature of it. This was me….

Fuck me, it was savage. The poor lad. I guess I must get my caring and compassionate side from my Dad.

Speaking of Karius though, the more I think about it the more I think he must have been at the very least a little fuzzy for that to have happened. I don’t buy the “he’s shit, this was always going to happen” argument. He’s been in that exact same situation with the ball in his hands probably 10,000 times in his life, and the ONE TIME that happens comes two minutes after he was smashed in the temple and allegedly concussed? That’s one hell of a co-incidence.

I felt really sorry for the lad before but I feel even worse now (especially after hearing my mum eviscerate him). The amount of people out there on social media talking complete shit about concussions is infuriating. It seems everyone is now an expert on the subject. It’s ridiculous, even the actual experts on the subject don’t know everything, yet yer Da on twitter can give us the full XP on it.

Even if you’ve had several concussions yourself, you still aren’t really in a position to know what happened with Karius because not all concussions are the same. There’s mild concussions when you just see stars for a few seconds, and then there’s the full on “don’t know what fucking day it is” version, and there's all sort in between. Karius defo wasn't the latter, but he may have been the former.

I’ve seen people saying the medical staff should have known and got him out of there, but seriously, how were they meant to know? He got straight back up and the physios never even got to go on and look at him. I’ve seen others say Karius should have asked to come off because he must have known he had a concussion. Easy to say that now, but how many players EVER ask to come off because of a head injury?

We’ve seen players forced to come off by the medical staff, but any time a player gets a bang on the head they always think they can just shake off the cobwebs and carry on. Remember Hugo Lloris at Everton when he didn’t even know who he was but he was still kicking off about staying on? Karius may or may not have known he had a concussion, but chances are he probably just thought he was a bit shaken up and it would wear off.

I don’t blame him for staying on and I don’t think we can blame anyone at LFC for not recognising that he may have been concussed either. It’s just an unfortunate situation that happened at the worst fucking possible moment for us.

The real problem lies with football being miles behind other sports when it comes to dealing with this kind of thing. There needs to be some sort of concussion protocol brought in like they have in the NFL. Not sure exactly how it would work though as it's not stop / start like American Football.

As it stands, it’s difficult to bring players off to check them out because no team wants to be a man down for ten minutes or so, and they don’t want to ‘waste’ a substitution unless it’s absolutely necessary as you only get three. Maybe a temporary substitution could be made for head injuries and if the player passes the test he can come back on? Something needs to be done, but I don't know what because the sad thing is if a rule like that was brought in, brazen cheating twats like Mourinho and Real Madrid would find a way to abuse it to suit their own ends.

Football has to be the most dishonest sport on the planet. Full of cunts.

Friday Jun 8…

Fekir is done and he’s signing today. Wait, no he’s not; he’s failed a medical. Actually no, he didn’t fail his medical, the delay is something to do with Lyon needing to wait so they can put the deal through next year’s accounts. No, hold on, yeah it is the medical. What a fucking farce. I knew things were going too well. Normal service has been resumed. We have a saga every fucking summer.

This isn’t going to happen now. If there’s any kind of a delay due to a medical issue there’s no way they’ll sanction a £60m transfer, because if he ever got injured the flak they’d take would be unbearable. Proper gutted about this. I was so excited at the idea of signing this Fekir.

Meanwhile, Kenny gets a knighthood. Can’t even bring myself to give the slightest fuck about this either way. So many paedos, corrupt fuckers and scumbags have been knighted that it’s really not any sort of honour is it? There’s more honour in not having one, like Shanks and Bob. I’ve seen loads saying Kenny should have turned it down but who are any of us to tell Kenny Dalglish what to do?

He’s earned the right to decide whatever he wants to do on something like this. Of course it would have been cool if he’d told them to fuck off, but he didn’t. It doesn’t alter my opinion on him in the slightest. I won’t be calling him Sir though, he’s the King.

Until next time then…

You shouldn't laugh, but...

Couldn't find a gif of someone with hair huh?

Hasta la Vista, baby!

In the last World Cup final, Germany's Christophe Kramer started for Germany in place of the injured Khedira. Kramer suffered a head injury and concussion during the game which was so severe, he didn't even realise he was playing in the World Cup final until the physios reminded him.
