Premier League title: a realistic aim for Liverpool this season?

Jurgen Klopp has done fantastic work at Anfield so far but the job isn’t even half-done; he wants to turn Liverpool into title winners. The former Borussia Dortmund coach was unable to topple Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in Germany but Klopp could be the man to take Liverpool from the cusp of the top four to champions of England.

The Reds have already earned crucial victories away at both Arsenal and Chelsea – two huge results that could be incredibly important at the end of the campaign. Yes there are plenty of points still to be won and lost but the signs are promising for Liverpool; they are playing a superb brand of football AND they are winning matches against England’s elite sides; which is exactly what the Reds need to do if they are to challenge for silverware on a yearly basis.

In years gone by, Liverpool have struggled to match the Premier League’s big boys but Klopp appears to have changed the entire mind-set since taking over at Anfield. The Reds, who last won the English title back in 1990, are now able to compete with their rivals but their main problem is consistency. Liverpool’s 2-0 defeat to Burnley last month is exactly the kind of result that simply cannot occur if the club are to finally get their hands back on the crown.

Klopp’s men are 5/1 to win the title in bet365’s football betting odds – and it would take a brave man to back against them on current form. Liverpool are purring in attacking areas; with Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane playing key roles for the Reds so far this season. Liverpool’s potent attack could cause problems for opposing defences on a regular basis if they can continue to create opportunities at will...

Liverpool have scored 11 goals in five league games so far; a tally bettered by only Arsenal (12) and Manchester City (15). Klopp places a lot of emphasis on entertaining, attacking football and the Anfield crowd will be treated to some spectacular stuff this year. The Reds have played just once at home so far due to the on-going work on the new Main Stand extension but the squad showed their prowess as they put four past defending champions Leicester City.

Klopp is now fully up to speed with the pace, physicality and precision of the Premier League and Liverpool are reaping rewards from his varied skillset and ideology as a manager. Without doubt, the German is one of the very best in the business and the Reds will prosper if they can keep him at Anfield for a considerable length of time. If nothing else, Klopp's "heavy metal" style of football has certainly gone done well with the Liverpool faithful.

Liverpool have struggled to inspire confidence in the title race for over 25 years but Klopp is the man to take the Reds back to the forefront of English football. Watch this space: Mane, Coutinho and Firmino could fire Klopp's rampant Liverpool to the Premier League title this season.
