Can Liverpool beat Dortmund and go on to win the Europa League?

After defeating Manchester United in the previous round, Liverpool were hoping to avoid another potentially tricky tie. Unfortunately for the Reds, they were landed with Jurgen Klopp’s former club Borussia Dortmund – who thrashed Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 on aggregate in the previous round.

Dortmund, who are priced at 13/8 with Betway to win the competition, will fancy their chances of going all the way to the final this season. After a disappointing 2014-15 campaign, the Bundesliga giants have recovered and must now be regarded as one of Europe’s elite clubs.

Having said that, Liverpool are no slouches themselves and Klopp will have his side chomping at the bit and ready to go. The Reds have an emotional attachment to European football and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see the passionate Anfield faithful play a key role in Liverpool’s chances of success against the German side.

Liverpool have enough quality and talent throughout the squad to cause plenty of problems for Dortmund and if they can disrupt the Bundesliga side’s rhythm then Klopp’s men will stand a great chance of emerging victorious after two gruelling legs of football. Both clubs are heavyweights of European football and should put on a show.

If the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino are on top form, Liverpool stand a great chance of advancing to the next round and could go on to win the competition. The Reds are currently 7/1 at https://sports.betway.com and Klopp’s men will fancy their chances if they can keep their shape defensively and get at Dortmund’s back four.

The German side have matured back into one of the Bundesliga’s top sides and their demolition job of Spurs in the last round shows just how dangerous they can be. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is one of the top strikers in European football and the Dortmund forward will be the principal danger man during both legs.

Dortmund are formidable opponents but Liverpool will be up for the task and this game isn’t quite as one-sided as many fans are making out. The Reds can’t compete with Dortmund on a player-by-player basis but they have enough stars to give the German side something to think about and the Bundesliga outfit won’t have everything their own way – the Anfield crowd and Klopp will make sure of that.
