It was proper sh1t!!!

You are all heathens by the way - the Megadrive was good, but the SNES deserves more support than this!

I borrowed it off a Japanese lad from school. When cartridges are £40 a pop you'll give anything a try. Yes, a laughably bad game. That fat bear thing, what the fuck?

I expected more support for the SNES. "Ooh, it does sprite scaling and rotation in Mode 7", cried the fan boys.

I remember being blown away that a console game had speech. Those were the days.
Weirdly, given how much they generally suck these days, EA ruled on the Megadrive: The first NHL game, Desert Strike et al were genius.

Good ol' Mode 7. I remember loads of importers used to advertise in Mean Machines, and, though I'd never played one or seen any games, I wanted a Super Famicom, Neo Geo and PC Engine (particularly the handheld) sooo bad.

Re: Mega Drive or SNES?

Yeah I really wanted a PC Engine and the PC Engine CD-Rom. Neo Geo games retailed at around £100, made me think I was missing out big time but in hindsight it would have been an enormous waste of money.

Re: Mega Drive or SNES?

John Madden and NHL hockey were the ones for me on my megadrive. PGA tour golf, Road Rash, Speedball, Premier manager, Desert strike, Jungle strike and NBA jam were also popular.

Re: Mega Drive or SNES?

The SNES was my choice, I had a mega drive aswell but it didn't compare. Super Mario Kart, Super Metroid, NBA Jam, The super Star wars series, Starwing, International superstar soccer (gooooooooaaaaaaallll). The scope as shit as it was pissed all over that menacer aswell. Oh and the Snes pad was better, it clearly evolved into the PS1 pad.
