What's your favourite piece of technology ever?
Two categories: one you've actually owned and one you've simply benefited from.

Re: What's your favourite piece of technology ever?
Bit too grey a question. Do you mean gadget or technological breakthrough as many of these would be useless without an accompanying one.

Hehe
In the geek forum the question must be broken down into binary before being answered.

Paul in the techy forum = Hicks responding to a question with the words "Man Ham" at the takeover press conference.

I like how Dave counts himself as 'us' despite only coming in here when he gets stuck.

And your contribution to this forum is? You're slightly less out of your depth in here than Paul, but only slightly!

Resident games nerd. I view myself only slightly ahead of Wiiksie and TK421 on that score. When you own more than five games related action figures, you know you're a games nerd.

The remote control. Without it there'd be no Sky+ because nobody would be arsed to get up to pause it, before answering the door or letting the wife speak.
Not owned but benefited from is probably the internet - for a lot of reasons.

Re: What's your favourite piece of technology ever?
Mobile phones - I've never been that fussed on them but when I've been without one for whatever reason I've realised how much I've come to depend on it, even for simple shit like checking the date or setting a reminder.
My phone was duff for a couple of weeks back in my uni days and it was a propper kick in the balls, simple things like having to check about four different floors and the canteen before I spotted my mates, where as usually I'd just send a message asking where the fuck.
Benefited from, Thermonuclear weapons - because the UK can no longer afford a substantial military, and without them we'd be somebody's bitch without a doubt - more than likely the Russians.
I'm not ready to trade my Jack Daniels for paint stripper just yet.

Re: What's your favourite piece of technology ever?
Owned: My sinclair spectrum. Never before has so much joy come from something so limited.
Benefited from: Have to go with the internet. Was priceless when applying for jobs in Sweden.
