I hate mobile phones, but the iPhone is a thing of beauty. It's so tactile, not to mention really intuitive to use, like all Apple stuff. My modest techie dream is to own a MacBook and iPhone to sync with it.

Wait til iPhone v2.0 comes out next month Paul, then you should be able to pick up a v1.0 pretty cheap. Get an end of line Macbook too, mission accomplished...

They do nice looking kit, Apple. I have a massive hatred for mobile phones, because for me they are a conduit for work to harass me during the night.
I'd like one of these.
Apple Store - U.K.

Check the network quality where you live here:
UK coverage - Services - O2
I work for O2 and am definitely getting one this time. The slow browser put me off the last one as well as the high price, but Apple have taken on board most of the gripes and put them right. The unlimited data and wi-fi is a really good deal and I love the idea of having the internet with me wherever I go. I'm going to flog my iPod to cover the cost of going on the one of the cheaper tariffs where you have to pay £159.99 for the phone (I'm going to get the 16gb version).

Yeah, if it's the darker shade of blue you get 3g, if it's the lighter shade of blue you only get GPRS or EDGE which are slower data speeds. Also check your postcode against the HSDPA coverage as this is the even faster version of 3g (this coverage shows in purple but you have to select the HSDPA option).
Also, remember at home if you have wireless internet you can connect on your iPhone.
You can also find out the wi-fi hotspots in your area here:
Wireless Hotspots - Mobilise your laptop - Mobilise your office - SME - Business - O2

Cheers VV,
Unfortunatley now I'm confused. Whats the difference between 3G and wireless? Just strength of signal? All i want is to access the internet and emails. Hove seems to be ok with 02 HSDPA which is my work and there are wireless places in Brighton.
I just presumed I could access it anywhere. How little I know. . .

Knickerlarse,
3G is a mobile only technology for getting onto the interweb (max speed approx 400kbs). Its a bit old school now, and wireless is the way to go, where your maximum speed is only restricted by how many users are connected to the Wireless Access Point, and the speed of the adsl connection itself.
I have unlimited wireless through BT, and I've also signed up for this:

Re: I'm planning to get the new iphone
It's just a shame they didn't upgrade the camera. I don't have a digital camera (shocking, I know), so a good 'un on here would have been a clincher for me. Looks like I'll be a Luddite for a while longer.
