Help with my webpage

I've been administrating my football teams homepage for some years now and tried to make some updates each season. I'm using notepad to write html code (no programs) cause that's how I first learned to make websites, old dogs and all that...

Recently I ran into some problems with the page. I'm not sure if this is due to a new frame set or some java tags, but it seems like the site wont update itself for old visitors. Neither do I know if this is a problem that only occurs when you're using Mozilla Firefox. Anyway, If I spend some hours on updating the site people doesn't notice until after they've visited it 4-5 times or pressed "Update frame content" in their browser.

Any of you techies know what to do?

Also, each time I make an update in a .html-file a line is added that says: "<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="http://hem.passagen.se/TopFrame/frameit.js"></script>".
Again, I don't know why this is happening or what does it. Is it the domain? It is a bit disturbing cause if I don't delete the lines they grow - one new, exactly similar - line for each time I update the .html-file.

Help! Please!

That extra line being added is your web hosts. Looking at the code of the page that it calls, it looks like it's putting adverts on your site. There's not much you can do about it short of moving to a better web host.

As for the pages not updating, that's a setting on their browser. However, you can set pages to expire by putting the following lines in the head section of the HTML.

<META HTTP-EQUIV="Pragma" CONTENT="no-cache">
<META HTTP-EQUIV="Expires" CONTENT="-1">

This means that when the end user tries to load the page from their cache rather than directly from the web, the page will be marked as expired and the browser will be forced to download the latest version.

Re: Help with my webpage

Thanks, dirty_sanchez! I've googled for an answer for weeks. Should have brought here right away.

More questions, not directed at you specifically:

I guess the site could look a bit weird one viewed in a high resolution. I'm using 1024X768 and all the frames are fine with that, but if you use a higher res some of the "background images" might "loop", in the top frame for instance. IS there any easy way to get around that problem?

Re: Help with my webpage

Yup.

Is your background picture set on the <body> tag? If so, use CSS to lay it out. You should really be using CSS all the way through your document.

Put this in your head section:

<style type="text/css">
body {background-image: url(images/yourbackgroundimage.jpg); background-repeat: no-repeat;}
</style>

Aah, I don't know how to use CSS, as I said I'm an amateur coder.
Thanks anyway!

Re: Help with my webpage

One more thing. Are there any known free web hosts WITHOUT ads that works well? When I was younger there were some site called Tripod that didn't have ads, but that's no longer the case.
