I'm after some free anti-spyware software.
anyone know any good ones? Is Windows defender any good? I'm assuming not if it's microsoft.


Any advice mucho appreciated.

get a decent router. I've not needed any spyware and i'm not frightened to surf the odd porn site. Just upgraded to avg free 8. In 4 years haven't had a single virus and when i've done spyware scan virtually nil.

Don't go for real time monitors though, all it does it slow don your system. if oyu've got mcafee or norton get rid and get avg free.

every 6 months or so just downlaod and run hitman pro. it does everything tiself, downlaods and runs about 5/6 different anitspyware programs. set it off and leave it for 2/3 hours, come back and your system is clean.

SUPERAntiSpyware.com - AntiAdware, AntiSpyware, AntiMalware!

Download the free home version it is very good.

Since I put it on all of my mates / family members machines it has saved me a lot of annoying phone calls.

avg free and AVIRA free (or paid), you can use the alone or tandem, automatic updates.

Follow the link to a German magazine site called CHIP, follow the blue box with a white arrow (click on download 2 or 3 times) AVG Free - Download installation files & documentation it is the latest 8.01 final version. If you have an older version you'll have to uninstall it first.

Don't forget to do a manual update check the first time, afterwards it's automatic, and you don't need the Toolbar that they want to give you.

There's loads of links to just install the new version on download.com, I meant the upgrade link. They do exist, I'm just not sure where.
