Can anyone here advise me how to download photos from my laptop to my ipod.

So not a photo one?

In that case you need to use it as a hard drive, which I don't know how to do. Is it not just drag and drop?

It is drag and drop. In iTunes there is an option to enable it to be a drive. Check that checkbox and reconnect the iPod and it should show in your explorer thingy. Thn just drag and drop.
