I'm on Sky broadband so I imagine it was their cleaner unplugging Sky's only server to use the vacuum cleaner.

Weds night is good as my liverpool supporting mate is coming up from stockholm for the match and will no doubt be up for a bit of karting.

I have only been disconnected once, I suddenly ended up with one other person in a race instead of about 10. Bizarre.

I am not happy with my vehicle choice. The bowser bike is decent but I can't manually drift on it at all well. The piranha car is my favourite kart and I have the drifting to a tee, but it is a tad slow. I ried the standard kart and I was super shit with it.

Re: Mario Kart Wii Online thread (with added sticky)

My fave combos are.

Wario and the chopper
Funky and the bowser bike or the off roader. Only reason i use him is for his bandana
Mario and the middle bike (looks like a normal superbike)

Do time trials using lots of different combos - it only takes one or two races to get the drifting down (except the wario chopper where i dont seem to drift at all) and see which one you get the best times with. Use your own ghost to start with using the different combos.

Yeah I'm up for that, name a day and I'll try for it - its seems that post 10pm is excellent for me and both the little ones and my wife are asleep!

Cool, not sure what funkey gives me, but I wanted him!

Meanwhile to beat the staff ghosts I found a new combo that worked fairly well for me - Warluigi and "the middle" bike worked quite well...

Yeah you need to come out of your profile (go back to the start screen, press 'A' to start) and you'll get any unlockables.

It's just all this talk of shells is bringing back memories of wasted (often literally) hours at Uni playing the original SNES Mariokart.

Donkey Kong or Bowser, hopping the jumps, Rainbow Road, the list could go on...

Did get the N64 version but never really got on with it - the original always struck me as being more down to skill than the luck of the draw with weapons...
Daaaaaam straight! SNES Mariokart was and will always be the daddy (at least until I buy this on the weekend and join in the fun ) - uber-skills involved, N64, Gamecube ones were shoite in comparison.
