PS3 Games thread
Got a few now, so here's a bit of a rundown:
Motorstorm: fucking fantastic game, like Star Wars pod racing but with all sorts of bikes, trucks, rally cars, buggys etc. Mental tracks, excellent multiplayer, loads of fun.
Pro Evo 2008: disappointing, but not unplayable. Its heavily documented how rushed this was, and how little of the hardware it makes use of, but its still Pro Evo. Online is a bit of joke still though, lag everywhere (even patched). But at least the patch sorted out most of the slowdown in the single-player.
Drakes Fortune: excellent, polished Indiana Jones type adventure. Some very clever effects and full use of HD make this feel really cinematic, but it isn't very long though (took about 10 hours to finish). Combat is really good too, and there is loads of secret shit to collect so it is replayable.
Burnout Paradise: just got it, hard to get into (seems a bit aimless when you begin), but might just be a monster of a game hiding in there somewhere. Too early to say for sure, but the game engine looks very nice and shiny. Soundtrack has all the old Burnout out tunes too, thumbs up for that.
Resistance: Fall of Man: I just don't get FPS on a console. Looks a bit dated already, fells clunky and I bet COD4 pisses all over this (although I've only got that for PC).
Feel free to add to the list.

Re: PS3 Games thread
I used to be a PC FPS snob as well. I've grown up now though and consider shooting people from the sofa to be like the equivalent of taking up fishing. No, its not as competitive but you dont end up with a hump back either.
Resistance fall of man is possibly the worst release title of a console. My mate bought a ps3 and i pleaded with him not to buy it.
When is the new GT out? Seems to have been dragging its heels somewhat.

Re: PS3 Games thread
Resistance is fun, I've played it quite a lot online. I think the single player game is pretty decent too, and it lasts longer than COD4. But COD4 pisses all over RFOM when you go online, it's the game of the moment for me. The best thing about it is the sensitivity can be turned up to very high levels, meaning it's closer to playing with a mouse (being able to 180 quickly, and so on).
PES08 is fine in single player mode once patched, but online it drives me fuckin' mad and I can't be doing with it.

GT5 is pissing about a little, they are bringing out another Prologue game (cut down version of the main thing) to appease people, which is out in March I think. Not sure when the full monty is out though.

I'm not really arsed, never been a fan of the series. Give me the thrills and spills of Burnout over a realistic driving simulator any day. I'm looking forward to GTA 4 and Resi 5 the most.
I know you were replying to Fink but my opinion is important.

Your opinion is vital here TK, don't you worry.
GT is the alltime best driving sim for me, but GT5 wants to get some proper car damage to go with the multiplayer or its appeal is going to seriously wane for me.
Agreed with GTA4 and RE5, Turok look quite cheeky too.

Re: PS3 Games thread
Metal Gear Solid 4 needs to be than a glorified interactive movie. The PS3 would get a huge boost if that game can live up to it's promise. I don't think Kojima can reign himself in though.

Ive seen a video of some gameplay footage and its got huge potential. I haven't touched MGS since the second one on PS2 for the reason you mention: overuse of cut-scenes and trying to be something it isn't.
But there are some clever little features in 4, like the chameleon suit (this might have been in 3), and the remote controlled robot.
If you haven't seen it yet, check this:

Re: PS3 Games thread
Yeah I've seen it. It looks great and the PS3 could really do with a huge killer app. I never bought the third game because of the pain in the arse that 2 became.
I just think it'll end up the same but I hope it doesn't. The original reinvented stealth gameplay.

Re: PS3 Games thread
I've got a few games for the PS3, PES 2008 and Fight Night being my favourites. PES is a bit of a let down but it's still PES and it pisses all over FIFA. I have confidence in Konami to get it right for the new game.
I bought NBA Live 08 today, it's not a bad game i've only played one game in it and i won 66-65. I didn't know what i was doing starting off but i was delighted to come back from a huge deficit to win it in the last few seconds when i figured out how to play properly.
I'm looking forward to GTA and a new and hopefully greatly improved PES.
