i'm falling behind the times. would somebody please post exactly what i need to buy (no dad words ie. thingybob and whatchamajigs) and what i need to do with it in order to get my ps3 to work online gaming.

any help will be muchly appreciated.

You need a DSL connection, and either a modem or wireless router.

Then decide how you are going to connect (either direct to the modem, or wirelessly/cabled to the router).

apparently........ we have a dsl and router wired through the mains. does this mean all i need is an internet cable (with a clippy end) to go from there to my playstaion and it will fit straight into it?

You either need a network cable like this (not a modem cable) to go from the router to your PS3:

Or if your router is wireless (most are), then you can configure your PS3 to use this method.
