Heres some benchmarks, and bear in mind these are based upon an AMD 64 4000+ with 1Gb RAM. Looking through some others, the video card is far more important (to an extent, obviously) than CPU/Memory.

Look at the way having the gfx detail quite high drags down even a mighty X800 down to single figures...

Depends what you want.

Morrowind is unique, but far harder to learn and the combat isn't as good as Oblivion. But Morrowind has far more depth to it, more quests, a far more interesting storyline etc. Oblivion is still good, though I couldn't be arsed playing it.

The thing with Morrowind is that they released the construction set they made the game with, meaning there are loads of easily installable plugins out there which add to the game. At one point, you are offered the chance to join the bad guys - but if you try it, you'll just end up getting killed. There is a plug in which allows you to join the baddies, and it's really well done. There are loads of other plug-ins like that, which add quests which are bigger, and better than the main storyline.

That's why I don't like Oblivion as much, they gimped the CS set so they can sell their add-ons.

I love games like that; Sam and Max and Discworld being favourites.

I also love Dungeon Keeper, which everyone should play.
