Leaking goals like a sieve!!!

I started new fm other day as Liverpool and I have played 11 games only 16pts scored 21 and let in 18. Arsenal thrashed me 5-0 at Highbury Chelsea beat me 3-1 at the bridge and I drew with Utd 2-2 at Old Trafford. I really do need to tighten my defence up though. I am at a loss why I am conceding so many.

My back four is normally RB- Madlung (Great name) LB- Givet CB- Carra and Sami with Reina or Hildebrand in goal.

Does anybody have any tactics or ideas which may help me with my defensive problems.

had this problem as my team strategy was all out attack with pretty much total creative freedom, i changed the defenders mentality to defensive with little creative freedom and it seems to have done the trick, still let in a couple and have a few mad games where i totally go for it but have even been complimented by the media on my tight defence!! LOL!! i have a back three of Chivu, Sami and Carra with Reina in goal.

I play three defensive midfielders either momo,xabi,guarin,gago or gerrard in .In my second season;top,unbeaten in 13,5 conceded 30 odd scored.try it yourself as neil beuchanen from art attack would say.

A settled defence makes a big difference I've found. If i rotate the back four we start conceding about two a game.

Incidentally, my back four is:

Lahm; Pablo Ibanez; Kompany; Carragher

Pablo seems to be the complete defender, and has settled really quickly. Cost a fortune, as did Lahm, but Chelsea gave me £27 mill for Riise. Nice.

Make sure your coaches are set up to teach defence - if you dont have enough coaches to give yourselves at least 3 or 4 stars then bring some in.

That sounds like useful advice, my team (Yeovil) has had a storming season and though we were tipped for relegation, we are up in 3rd place with 3 games to go, however over the last 3-4 games I have been getting absolutely steamrollered - 2-3 goals down before half time!!!

Can someone explain to me why?? Someone had mentioned to me that the game learns your tactics and changes to suit - and I haven't tinkered that much, but with three games to go I really need that automatic promotion spot asap!

Im struggling like mad in The Championship with reading, My keeper Hahmnanamanan or whatever his name is playing ace, and Leroy Lita is doing ok but keeps getting injured. I cant play defensivley becasue I never win and when I have a bit more of a go I get beat but only by the odd goal, I am well pissed off, and to prove how unrealistic the game is Everton beat Villareal in the qualifying games for the champions league 7-0 on agg, a 5-0 win at Woodison, I cried as I am currently languishing in 16th two points ahead of the fdrop zone with 5 games left.

this has helped me no end fella, would like to say thanks, how do you play your DM I have mine with full creative freedom but have Alonso staying back, seems to wrok very well in the Prem too, Crouch has 11 goals in 6 CL games

Can't recall how I set it up now but it's reliant on a target man being one of the two upfront and the wingers must be wingbacks who know how to defend also.

I am managing to avoid the use of Crouch as a target man and he an Nando are scoring goals with Nando supplying 9 assists for Crouch, and 11 assisst from Crouch for Nando. And that is just the CL games having played 2 group games and all the qualifiers.

I have Barragan and Antwi and that Idriajez fella for my cup games, they seem to be really working well when asked to play, Bought in Agger and VanDenBorre for 2.5 million for the pair. Need some cover for Gerrad and Garcia as Barragan is still a bit yuopung to rely on when those two get injured, any ideas anybody?

Will also have a gander at the site need help on other stuff cheers fella
