Martin joined the reds Academy in the summer of 2006 from Brondby. He spent the majority of the Academy season playing as an overage player for the u16s, and performed very well.
An injury to the previous years' Youth Cup winning goalkeeper Dave Roberts gave the young Dane an opportinity to play in the 4th round of the 2006/07 competition, and he turned in a confident display as Liverpool overcame a much fancied Chelsea side at Anfield in the 4th round. Such was the impression he made, that he retained his place even when Roberts regained full fitness. However, a broken finger suffered in the warm up ahead of the 1st leg of the final meant ruled him out of the 2nd leg, and the returning Roberts ended up being the hero as he helped the reds triumph in a penalty shoot out.
A Danish u17 international, Martin is a solid goalkeeper who does everything well. His handling has impressed, and his kicking game has also been very good. He has been involved with the reserve side too, although he is yet to start a game, and in the summer of 2007 he was promoted from the Academy to train with Gary Ablett's reserve squad on a full time basis.
