Talented defender who is equally at home at left back or centre half. Robbie has been with the reds since he was ten, and he is extremely well thought of by the staff who worked with him at the Academy. He came to prominence in the FA Youth Cup success in 2006, but he had been impressing at Academy level for some time before that.

Robbie was called into the reds' u19 side when he was just 16, and he coped with the step up very well. He was in the youth cup side when he was 16, and showed his mettle by coolly slotting home a spot kick at the Kop end in a shoot out with Spurs. His mates were in the Kop, and he casually grinned and winked at them before stroking the ball into the corner of the net.

He regained his place in the youth cup side the following season having missed the opening rounds through injury, and he justified Steve Heighway's faith in him with some sterling performances, not least in the semi final 2nd leg at St Mary's when the reds were staring defeat in the face until Robbie headed in an extra time equaliser as his side went through on penalties. Whatsmore, he opened the scoring in the 1st leg of that final at Anfield, blasting in at the Kop end from close range.

At the end of the 2005/06 season, Robbie was promoted from the Academy to train with the reserves at Melwood, and he was a regular choice either at left back or left midfield for Gary Ablett that season. He also retained his place in the youth cup side, switching from left back to centre half to great effect as the reds retained the trophy.

Just as he had the previous year, Robbie found the net at the Kop end in the first leg of the final, but this time there was no cause for celebration as it was his own net and the reds went down to a 2-1 first leg defeat to Manchester United. He made amends in spectacular fashion in the return leg at Old Trafford however, showing once again that he is a lad for the big occasion by levelling the tie on aggregate with a blistering drive, before slotting in a penalty in the shoot out to ensure the youth cup remained on Merseyside for a second year.

Robbie spent much of the 2007/08 season out on loan, where he helped Hereford United to promotion to League One. He made such a favourable impression there that they have taken him on loan once again for the 2008/09 season.
