The arrivals of Albert Riera, Peter Gulacsi and Vitor Flora on transfer deadline day took the number of professionals at Melwood to a staggering 60. Actually, it’s a bit less than that as a number of players (10 to be exact) are out on loan. Nevertheless, it’s enough for Rafa to field four different teams and still have players left for the bench. Even getting into Liverpool’s reserve side these days is extremely tough, and nigh on impossible for any of the non-Melwood based youngsters at the Academy.
