Liverpool's youngsters suffered another blow to their season as Stoke grabbed a 1-1 draw at the academy Saturday morning. The crowd, including Jamie Carragher and regular academy-goer Rick Parry, saw Liverpool fall behind after ten minutes when Stoke's impressive left winger Jimmy Phillips curled a freekick just inside Martin Hansen's near post. But centre-half Joe Kennedy levelled the scores arriving at the back post to meet a freekick from Astrit Ajdarevic.
In the second half the visitors were reduced to ten men when forward Nathan McDonald received his second yellow card after a poor challenge on Ajdarevic. The Stoke man had already been booked for hacking down Sean Highdale.
The Reds laid the visitors' goal under siege, but despite several chances, the best falling to Nathan Eccleston, Liverpool were unable to take advantage of their numerical superiority.
