A makeshift Liverpool u18 side were beaten 1-0 by Sheffield Wednesday at the Academy this afternoon. With the 2nd leg of the youth cup semi final due to be played on Monday, John Owens rested all of those likely to be involved in that game and took the opportunity to give some of his squad players a run out. Highly rated u16 duo Sean Highdale (pictured) and Nathan Ecclestone were also included, but the reds never really got going and the Owls were comfortable winners. The only goal of the game came early in the 2nd half, and Liverpool never looked like getting back into it.
