Jerzy Dudek was controversially sent off as Liverpool reserves were beaten 2-1 by Everton at the Halton Stadium. Dudek was dismissed after reacting to a series of late challenges by Victor Anichebe. The Everton man was yellow carded for his part in the incident, which saw players from both sides involved in a mass-melee. James Vaughan scored the winner for the blues, capitalising on hesitation by substitute goalkeeper Dave Martin.
