Liverpool reserves are having a torrid time at the Racecourse Ground against Newcastle United. They trail by two goals to nil at the break, and have lost two players to injury. Lee Peltier was stretchered off after just three minutes, and Stephen Warnock limped of after 35 minutes with what looked like a slight muscle pull. In between that, the Geordies scored twice through a deflected Albert Luque shot, and an effort by Troisi that Dudek should have dealt with better.
The reds improved towards the end of the half, with the lively Zenden pulling the strings in midfield and Nabil El Zhar lively up front. El Zhar hit the post, and Danny Guthrie saw a shot drift just wide.
We will have a brief report at full time, and an in depth report tomorrow
