A stunning strke by City midfielder Michael Johnson condemned the reds reserves to an undeserved defeat at the Racecourse Ground. It was a game of few chances, but the reds dominated possession and can consider themselves very unlucky to have lost this game. The winning goal came in the 65th minute when Johnson blasted into the top corner on the half volley after the reds had only partially cleared a corner.
Skipper Jack Hobbs went close three times to grabbing an equaliser, but his first two efforts were blocked on the line and the third opportunity saw him plant a free header wide from close range. Lee Peltier was denied in the lat minute when his 40 yard free kick was saved at full stretch by the City keeper, and with the final action of the game Hobbs headed over the bar from another corner.
We will have a full report on the game tomorrow morning.
