Liverpool’s u18 side got the new season off to a losing start as they were beaten 1-0 at home by Chelsea this morning. The visitors looked the more accomplished side for much of the game, and took the lead after 29 minutes through the dangerous Scott Sinclair. The young reds struggled to create anything and lone striker Craig Lindfield often cut an isolated figure in attack.
John Owens made changes in the second half to try and get Lindfield more support, but the closest the reds came to an equaliser was in the dying seconds when skipper Jay Spearing (pictured) saw a header clawed off the goal-line by Chelsea keeper Ryhs Taylor.
