Spearing back but u18s held at home

Jay Spearing returned after over six months out with a broken leg, but Liverpool's u18 side were held 2-2 at home to Sheffield Wednesday this morning. Spearing came on as second half substitute, with the reds a goal in front thanks to Ryan Wignall's first half strike, but two quick goals from Wednesday - the first from a wicked deflection - had John Owens' men looking down the barrell of defeat.

Francis Smith came to his side's rescue when he scored from the spot in the final minute after his header had been handled by a defender. The goal was the least Smith deserved for an all action performance in midfield.
